Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 All the bellyaching in the world did not get us through this inning without having to hit the Diaz button.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Diaz on to get four outs. Pass the bourbon!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 I believe every NYM run tonight has come with two outs.THAT is a change of fortune.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 I thought the team would pinch-hit for Senger, but when they did not, I guessed they were wary of changing catchers on Diaz. And then when he reached base, they pinch-ran for him, which tells you how much I know. Apparently, he's a bigger liability after getting to first than he is in the batter's box, relatively speaking.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 I guess the philosophy there is that you don't change your catcher until you have to.Torrens, the logical PH'er, is a slight upgrade in his odds of getting on base, but Jankowski is a huge upgrade on his odds of scoring on a hit just like Lindor's.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Pitcher batting alert! Lindor has entered on defense as the Mets forsake the DH!Diaz due up fourth in the bottom of the ninth! And if there is a bottom of the ninth, it will be my fault!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 The hidden X-factor in this game was Alonso's consistently accurate tosses to the pitcher covering first.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Also, the English on the bouncing ball that Senger hit over the mound. Strange luck but a huge difference maker.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 I'm surprised tomorrow isn't a matinee being a get awayday and needing to trek out to Bronx afterwards.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 Brewers staying in the same time zone (MIA) after this series so, no.

And when he didn't I said well what's the point of pinch running then. Then he scored on the double.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 The key to the whole game may have been that funky bounce off the bat of Senger just ahead of the Nimmo GSThe inning is over otherwise.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 I had to take a day off. Maybe that helpedLGM!
