Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 First of all, tonight's game will start at 6:40 EDT for those of you who haven't received this week's issue of TV GuideCheck your local listings for channel in your area.Mets are taking a break from the ATL - PHI - ATL run they've been on to go visit the Steel City and the (not very good) Pirates32 - 50 on the year, the Buccos' main issue is scoring runs as they're DFL in RS/G in the NL (3.26) and only 0.01 RS/G ahead of KCR for DFL in all of MLBDavid Peterson takes the mound for the Mets, at least until his scheduled mid-game injury (5th inning is the current betting favorite) vs Pitt Righty Mitch KellerKeller has somehow managed to go 1-10 this season despite a nothing-to-be-ashamed-of 4.02 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. It might be that whole lack of run support thing but I don't want to jump to any premature conclusions pending further investigation. That long-lost Ralph relative Isiah Kiner-Falefa, with his 1 HR and .319 OBA, is the team's leading WAR-rior (1.0) among position players says a lot. And whilenewly minted CF and highlight reel star Oneil Cruz might lead the league in SB (26 of 29) he's also tops in Ks and is just barely over the Mendoza line at .205 BA38 y/o DH Andrew McCutcheon is still giving a good account of himself [.259/.338/.406] as a mostly full-time player, even if just as a faint version of his younger self.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 The Pirates are better than you think. They've got pretty good pitching besides Skene, and some hitters that have been steadily improving. Cruz is in fact in a very bad slump but although he's done some bonehead stuff this week, he's working on it. I think it'll be interesting Btw despite the one day break in the heatwave for the rest of us, it's 85 in Pittsburgh right now
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Oneil Cruz fun fact:He's named after Paul O'Neil
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 O'Neil Cruz has caught some criticism for not hustling, fair or not I don't know. Cruz more so than Brian Reynolds is the face of the franchise and all of the losing may have soured fans on him although the Pirates issues are manyLGM

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Trying to get Hef fired here
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 I wonder if he's tipping pitches. How is he this bad all of a sudden.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 We'll see if this team has any fight to them. Their history suggests no.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Peterson is near done, over 60 pitches through three. Watchtomorrow he has bone spurs or a sprained whatnot.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 And of course, Peterson throws a perfect fourth.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Author Posted June 27, 2025 The last 25 NYM HRs have driven in a total of 29 runs [22 solos, two 2R HRs + one 3R]That they've only scored 30 other runs during that time (17 games, < 3.5 RS/G) doesn't help either.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Not liking Génesis plunking Nimmers in the wrist.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Unlikely that he will get to bat again, but this is the point where Nimmo's wrist swells up and they don't let him continue.
