Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Oh-and-Five so far vs ATL, but they're running out of elite pitchers to throw at us so maybe that's our break. This will be the second ML start for Didier Fuentes after losing his debut vs Miami on 6/20 with 4 R on 6 Hits and a walk thru 5 innings. 20 y/o (just last week), R/R, 6' 0"/170 from Tolu, Colombia. In typical Braves fashion he was sped through the minors and deemed ready for MLB (at least for now) after three starts at A ball, five more at AA, and then one at AAA this season.Clay Holmes goes for the good guys.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 We used to use the term "stopper" as a pitcher you could count on to end a losing streak.I'm hoping Holmes is our stopper.Later
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Managing to split this series with wins today and tomorrow wouldmake things feel a hell of a lot better even if still in second still.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Mets are burdened with a lot of mediocre relievers who all had runs of immeasurable luck, and now they're all regressing to the mean.Notable examples: Reed Garrett--career ERA: 4.55, ERA through 5/9: 0.57, ERA since: 4.11Huascar Brazoban--career ERA: 3.61, ERA through 5/21: 0.90, ERA since: 8.25Ryne Stanek--career ERA: 3.70, ERA through 5/13: 3.24, ERA since: 6.75Max Kranick--career ERA: 4.69, ERA through 4/28: 2.55, ERA since: 4.66

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Three innings (actually just 2-2/3) three walks so far for Holmes. Sounds about right on pace for the NYM staff lately.Good thing none of this ever comes back to bite us.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Mauricio do have a quick bat inside.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Gotta keep tacking on here. We've had precious few leads lately and the ones we have had usually weren't big enough to last.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Agreed. I'll settle for 14.Even then we'd still have to warm up Diaz.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Into the Braves pen, but they've held NYM bats to just one walk (vs 16 Ks) in 12.1 innings this year. Not sure how many Braves the Mets pen has walked through 5+ games but I think the number has a comma in it.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Now Nimmo with an RBI!I've missed this!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 And it's a Bugs Bunny Bat-Around!!!
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Meanwhile, our old friend Jake is having a "very special game" into the seventh inning. 86 pitches so far.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Omg we got Nick Allen out. Must really be our night.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Waddell walks his leadoff hitter so he's a 'True Met' already.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Jake's no-hit bid ended.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 I flip over to the Yanx game, see that they're up 6-1 and figure, 'at least Cincy won the first two cuz the Yanx have this one in the bag'.Then I change back to the Met game and think, 'C'mon guys, 6-1 is a very shaky lead'!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Amazing how well the team did with shlubby Soto, and how tough June has been with peak Soto. Here is to tonight being the start of the the two forces dovetailing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 There is a lot of booth chatter about whether Mauricio or Baty is more likely to go down when Vientos comes back.Have they not mentioned Young?
