Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 The finale of this three game set was moved up from a 7:10 start to a 1:10 start and, remember, all those who are late do not get fruit cup.Griffin Canning [5-1, 2.88, 1.32] vs Shane Smith [1-3, 2.36, 1.11]Smith has been a great find for the Pale Hose. A non-drafted FA signed by Milwaukee out of Wake Forest in July '21 and then snagged in the Rule 5 draft by Chicago this past winter, the 6' 3" / 240 lb 25 y/o RH was thrown directly into the starting rotation and has yet to allow more than 3 ER in any of his ten starts. He's basically a 5-6 inning guy at his point (who isn't these days?) but, with 41 hits and only 3 HRs allowed in 53.1 innings, that's not much to complain about for a guy you essentially got for free and are paying minimum wage.A sweep would be nice. Not to mention that I'm on an IGT roll which is at least as important as the team's success.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 This may still get delayed at some point
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 The Mets enter this afternoon's action 101-61 since the day Jorge Lopez turned his glove into a collector's item.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 JoLo has also been a statistical marvel for the Cubs this season, somehow assembling a 6–0 won-loss record to go with a 6.00 ERA and a -0.3 bWAR.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Has there been a Luis Robert Jr. sighting in the series?I haven't noticed.I guess the Sox aren't showcasing him. Maybe we'll see him as a pinch runner. He IS leading the AL in stolen bases with 21.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 He pinch hit last night, in the eighth or the ninth. I think he struck out.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 He appeared in both games, starting the first one.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 I believe I saw Robert respond to a trade rumor question recently to the effect of "I know I'm not much of a catch right now"

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Well this sucks.4-0 is basically insurmountable for this offense.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Not a lot of hustle getting that throw to home

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Got some baserunners on, that time, but you know how that goes
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Bases left loaded, at least they're consistent...
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Year ago I had my own rendition:Clear skies are gonna gray upPut on a crappy face(with apologies to Dick Van Dyke)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Author Posted May 28, 2025 Held 'em to one run that inning. So that's a kind of improvement.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 By my unofficial count, the Mets lose 98.4% of all day games before an off-day. Leaving you days to dwell on that shitty loss. When it's a day game, followed by an off-day, followed by a West Coast 10 p.m. start, that percentage rises to 114%.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 Hard to believe a team could win as much as this one does despite a .211 BA with RISP
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2025 Posted May 28, 2025 So Stoins says hitting with RISP is all about controlling the zoneHe did say RISP hitting is a skill. Interesting nuance
