Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 The chief growth officer for the the Mets spoke at a conference I attended this week. Said the Union Square "Mets House" popup has been a huge success selling merch including exclusive stuff, building presence and getting data from shoppers, especially young ones. The team is encouraged to "get out more" infiltrating things like street fairs and festivals where people are always happy to encounter the Mets.Grimace: "We didn't do much. We let it be a McDonald's thing." Key is to "know when to let the fans drive it."You shouldn't be surprised to know the team is focused on finding new fans and converting "marginal fans," which is tricky given the fragmented media and entertainment landscape today's kids inhabit. The idea is creating tomorrow's core fans who "care so deeply. They are like co-owners of the Mets."
