Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Or put another way, the David Stearns challenge game.Last winter, Mets fans were like "Hey, let's take a flyer on Walker Buehler". And Stearns was like "No bitches. You'll get Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas and Griffin Canning and you'll fucking love it."Montas has been hurt. But Holmes and Canning have been excellent. Tonight's matchup:Buehler. 6 Starts. 4-1. 4.28 ERA. 1.22 WHIP. Missed time with shoulder bursitis. Holmes. 9 Starts. 5-2. 3.14 ERA. 1.25 WHIP.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Team ERA: Still just 2.91.Magic number: 116
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Last night Pete and Soto got caught styling on balls that didn't get out and hit the Green MonsterIts anecdotal but players just don't run out balls as much anymore as ago. I appreciate its a long season and such but how hard is it to make the commitment to be professional and leg things out on a consistent basis I see it a time or two in most games I watch not just the MetsOn a pace to win 97+ games now. That's it??Just kidding, they'll be fine. Maybe the rebound starts tonight TBS game and SNY

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Tyrone Taylor was good for some big moments last year. He is due for one this season
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Well, they got a ball out of the infield. Just one and it took until the 8th hitter and it wasn't a hit ... but I'm going to call it progress.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Mcneil is the last guy I trust, meaning only.Nice hustle by Alvy on that bunt
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Wow, I didn't think Nimmo could throw like that. I was pretty much conceding the run with Nimmo making the catch.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 I was hoping they were going to beat each other up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 As the throw was coming in I'm thinking, 'WTF Brandon, you're air-mailing the cut-off man with no shot at getting the run ... Great Throw, dude!'
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 It might have been "right down the middle", Walker, but it was borderline low so your reaction was way out of whack.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Buehler upset because he felt Lindor did not try to get out of the way of the breaking ball that hit him on the foot. Batters often make minimal to no attempt to evade pitches (particularly breaking ball, with all the body armor they wear. Then he totally loses his cool and gets himself ejected when the ump called a borderline (at the knees) pitch call on Lindor's successful steal of second.Mets need to take advantage of this opportunity.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Bregman is another thirdbaseman with an open-weave glove.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Oh-fer-two w/RiSP and they can't even get the outs in the right order.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 This Jarren Duran guy has a good bat and real good speed. But he's also got three OF errors already this year and had a league leading five last year.It would be a crying shame if none of the Red Sox broadcasters made a 'Hands of Stone' reference at some point.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Finally we get an extra base hit off the Wall. One out of three so far in the series.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 This team couldn't score with $500 in a crack house.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Three straight ABs with a RiSP [2nd, then 3rd, then 3rd] ... and not a single ball leaves the IF
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 The Mets 0-RISP woes continue. Well, McNeil and Baty both hit hard shots at least.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Bret Baty, Professional Third Baseman...
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 This would be a great time for Alonso to bust one.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Instead the Red Sox hit a pair of solo HRs to take a 2-0 lead.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 The Mets have been out-HR'd 8-1 starting with last Mondy's game vs PittBaty has their last HR, a week ago today.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2025 Author Posted May 20, 2025 I didn't think the hitting could get worse.
