Tough to tell if/how much they complained about that as the booth caught up to it kind of late so bitching may have been going on off-camera.

I did see the ump pointing to his own head several moments earlier during the first replay but failed to interpret what it meant.

Either way, they can carp all they want but there's no appeal on that one. So even if the runner was going to be obviously safe it's still, in effect, that old neighborhood

call of, 'Do-Over!!' Well, the pitch itself isn't a do-over but the contact means a dead ball so it negates everything that occurs afterward.

oe: Now that I think about it, it's not a dead ball. In a case like this the ump indicates interference (his own in this case but player interference/obstruction would work the same way) then allows the play to continue. Had the Mets gotten the out on the SB attempt despite the jostling of Torrens's arm they can opt to take the result of the play - which of course they would. That the runner was safe is what negated the result and sent the runners back to where they started.

I saw no umpire interference, he was still as a statue. Unless he

was hovering over the catcher more on that pitch, which I doubt,

Mets got a lucky gift call there. Good teams are lucky, let's roll...

The call might have been a 'gift' (cuz I suspect the runner would have been safe even without the arm hitting the mask) but it was the correct one.

The ump doesn't have to make any movement, intentional or otherwise, for it to be interference.

Simply the fact that he/his mask Did interfere with Torrens's throwing motion makes it interference.

Missed this game today. Was thrilled to see Griffin kept on Canning.

I keep thinking Tylor Megill is gonna find it and here's Canning putting up good start after good start.

The one red flag today was Reed Garrett

This was his third bad outing in a row with FAR too many walks.

2.1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 6 BB!!

With 8 base runners in 2+ innings it's a minor miracle that he's only given up one run.
