This song is a double into the gap. Plus Mets content at 2:50+

The much-talked-about Paul Skenes opposes the Mets at Citifield. He faced the Mets last July and won 14-2 in a game featuring a Luis Torrens mopup job.

This year Skenes is 3-4, 2.77 for a shitty Pirates team (14-27) that whacked their manager last week. O'Neil Cruz, who I didn't realize is a center fielder now, is their most dangerous guy with 8 HRs and 16 stolen bases but he can't hit lefties for shit and Peterson is going for us.

Ex-Met Factor: Dennis Santana, Colin Holderman

No matter what Skenes' record is, he's engaged to Livvy Dunne.

He's a lucky stiff.

I watched her video and concluded that I'm not lucky. Just stiff

I think the Pirates are still circling the radar-less Newark airport

as they have yet to post a lineup. Should have flown to LaGuardia.

McNeil in center. Is that a first?

If I'm reading bbrdotcom correctly, this will be McNutty's

seventh time manning the F-8 spot. Hmmm...

As mentioned in the TWiB thread yesterday, the Pirates are coming off taking two of three vs the Braves in a series where the two teams combined for just 17 runs scored.

And that's kind of par for the course with Pittsburgh as they sit DFL in runs scored at just 3.10/G. NL avg is 4.53 and the Rox & Braves are the only other teams under 4.0

It would be nice for them if they were the opposite with run prevention but they're no better than right around average there. And that's how you wind up with a 14-27 record.

Skenes isn't quite as good as he was last year but he's pretty darn close despite a 3-4 record in eight starts. His Ks are down from 11.5 per/9 to 8.7 and his ERA up (2.77 from 1.96) but the WHIP, H/9, BB/9, HR/9 are essentially identical so if you're looking for signs of the league 'figuring him out' you'd be pretty much picking nits.

I still think Chris Stein is the luckiest with Debbie Harry but Skenes has a bullet up the charts

McCutchen is like a condo in Florida - you can't get rid of him.

Peterson one-ninth of his way towards a no-hitter!

What? They called that one back? Never mind.

OK--NOW Peterson is 1/9th of the way towards a no-hitter.

I was just going to say I can't believe McCutchen is still a Pirate.

He was supposed to be a Met like a dozen times over the years.

"Still"? More like "again."

Ya know what that means. Big hands, big feet... big gloves and

big sneakers. I'm in Camp Peterson tonight, fuck Skenefeld...

Who the Mets get runners on 1st & 2nd it's really just a matter of who is going to hit into the GiDP, not if someone will.

Tonight's it's been Alonso and Alvarez

They need to re-incorporate the bunt.
