Plus Mets content at 2:50+The much-talked-about Paul Skenes opposes the Mets at Citifield. He faced the Mets last July and won 14-2 in a game featuring a Luis Torrens mopup job. This year Skenes is 3-4, 2.77 for a shitty Pirates team (14-27) that whacked their manager last week. O'Neil Cruz, who I didn't realize is a center fielder now, is their most dangerous guy with 8 HRs and 16 stolen bases but he can't hit lefties for shit and Peterson is going for us.Ex-Met Factor: Dennis Santana, Colin Holderman
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 No matter what Skenes' record is, he's engaged to Livvy Dunne.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Let's hit him so hard that it makes Livvy cry.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Author Posted May 12, 2025 McNeil in center. Is that a first? He hit a home run off Skenes last time
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Livvy seems, ahem. somewhat flexible. It's good to be a major league pitcher.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 I think the Pirates are still circling the radar-less Newark airportas they have yet to post a lineup. Should have flown to LaGuardia.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 As mentioned in the TWiB thread yesterday, the Pirates are coming off taking two of three vs the Braves in a series where the two teams combined for just 17 runs scored. And that's kind of par for the course with Pittsburgh as they sit DFL in runs scored at just 3.10/G. NL avg is 4.53 and the Rox & Braves are the only other teams under 4.0It would be nice for them if they were the opposite with run prevention but they're no better than right around average there. And that's how you wind up with a 14-27 record.Skenes isn't quite as good as he was last year but he's pretty darn close despite a 3-4 record in eight starts. His Ks are down from 11.5 per/9 to 8.7 and his ERA up (2.77 from 1.96) but the WHIP, H/9, BB/9, HR/9 are essentially identical so if you're looking for signs of the league 'figuring him out' you'd be pretty much picking nits.

roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 (edited) Peterson one-ninth of his way towards a no-hitter!What? They called that one back? Never mind.OK--NOW Peterson is 1/9th of the way towards a no-hitter. Edited May 12, 2025 by Guest
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 I was just going to say I can't believe McCutchen is still a Pirate. He was supposed to be a Met like a dozen times over the years.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Alvarez going with the backhand, why??

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 You can bunt with Pete up and two runners on early in the game, but I'm not.
