metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 I voted for Acuna , I think he forces the Mets hand with a sparkling Spring Training, added some good spark down the stretch
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 I voted for Baty. I didn't think Vientos sucked at all. His biggest problem was that Baty had the first-rounder label going for him and he didn't.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 I think Mauricio will ultimately have the better career, but since the question is specifically about 2025, I voted Acuna.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 If he's healthy, I think Mauricio is ready to step in and deliver the bat needed to be a regular (third baseman).I'm not sold on Acuna's briefly hot September after a so-so rest of 2024. He needs some more seasoning.Baty? Not after barely hitting over .250 in AAA last year. Williams will be playing center in 2026.Later

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 I went with Acuna. I think he can be this years (Inglesious). He showed he can defensively handle second (and can fill in at short) when Lindor needs a breather. I expect he can defensively handle third as well. Because of his versatility and speed, I think he is the most likely to make the opening day roster. I just feel like Baty has had ample opportunities, but hasn't been able to produce. I'm starting to lose faith in him as a future starter.I think Mauricio is the best option (longterm) for third, but his injury really set him back. He does have power and speed which can help.Williams likely needs more time to develop. He just turned 21 in November and lost much of last season to injuries. The Mets likely need to decide if he is to be a middle infielder or if he is going to become a centerfielder.

Channel9 Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 Mauricio.Young enough that the knee injury won't even register and he wont miss a beat.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 The Alonso signing might change things with Vientos returning to third. But I think Mauricio's versatility still will keep him around long enough to make the most impact.Later
