Sean Manaea tasked with washing the taste of the A's finale out of the Mets' mouth.

The first baseball game I ever went to was on August 16, 1964. The Mets beat the Phillies 12-4. Galen Cisco pitched a complete game and Bobby Klaus had 4 hits -- surely the best game of his career (.208 lifetime average).

In any event, going tonight to commemorate the 60th anniversary of that game. I predict the Mets will win 12-4.

You should reach out to Bobby Klaus and wish him a happy anniversary.

He had maybe a better day a week later, getting three hits including a homer in game two of a double-header. He had five hits on the day.

August 16, the day Babe Ruth died.

I can think of a baseball team whose momentum could use an August 16 rebirth.

Not just a 1st inning walk but a leadoff 1st inning walk.

And not just a leadoff walk but an 11-pitch leadoff walk.

I've seen this movie before.

Building off that call at the plate where the HP ump signaled safe even though the runner never touched the plate, this

HP ump Didn't make a safe sign, or sign of any kind, following Nimmo's slide implying that he never touched.

What's going on here?

Hopefully Daniel is honing his skills here so he can land a job next

year as a full-time Washington Nationals broadcaster.

A GiDP not turned yesterday cracked open the deluge from which we never recovered.

A smaller deficit here, but we don't hit bullpens lately.

And right as I say that, this guy has thrown two pitches and allowed three runs.

And you wanted the whole roster released yesterday. HAH!

After that game I wanted each position player released and each pitcher released twice just in case there were any clerical errors the first time.

Not as bad as Thursday's game, but this one is also headed over three hours (2:12 thru 6, although could be saved by no bottom 9th).

But there are still three innings to go and four runs is certainly not an insurmountable lead.
