Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Just call him the SHaMVP
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) Who is this guy and what did he do with that scrub Jeff McNeal? And it was an actual hit with a runner(s) on. It came on the team's 13th baserunner. The only previous one was Nimmo's dribbler towards 3rd w/Lindor on 1st. Edited July 19, 2024 by Guest

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Needed that tying run to score there.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Just needed a fly ball, Bader
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Now three hits with runners on: McNeil's 2nd HR and TWO IF singles w/a runner on 1st only.At some point someone is going to have to find some OF grass.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Marlins now have four non-HR hits that have knocked in a run. That's four more than the Mets have.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Man, my connection went dead for the last 20 minutes and that's why the Marlins scored.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Dammit. Not the start the SHaMs needed
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Weird game. A lot of hard-hit balls turned into outs on both sides. But the Marlins converted more of them.Manaea really came up empty. They clobbered anything he put over the plate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 What was that, our fifth IF pop-up/flare of the game or was it the sixth?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 I was so happy baseball was back. And then I wasn't. And I can't pee. Hasta mañana...
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Seemed like a very winnable game, but they didn't win it. Manaea was poopy.Anyone getting the feeling that JD Martinez is hitting a wall here?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 J.D. carried the team when the baton was in his hand. Maybe it's somebody else's turn. But he got a walk and a sacrifice fly tonight, and tattooed the ball in the ninth. I'm more concerned about Alonso. I don't see the bat speed, and I don't see him capitalizing on balls left over the plate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Two HRs plus two IF hits. That means four hits actually found some OF grass (3 1Bs, 1 2B) and on one of those we got thrown out trying to stretch. That's a nice formula for turning 8 hits (incl. 2 HRs) plus 7 BBs and a Sac Fly into just 4 runs.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Catching up on some games. The bullpen is still too weak. The Mets are still not playing like a playoff club. These are the 1998 Mets. These are the 2005 Mets. They are the Mets before the Mets really, really get good.
