Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 One can understand the 'get-away' game daytime start. But when both teams are traveling the same distance at the same time between the closest two ML cities in the country it certainly isn't necessary to create a day game following a night game simply for travel purposes.Shit, if I were one of the Phillies I'd rent a car, park it at Citified, jump into it in full uniform right after the last out, and be in my own shower at homeby around 6PM (or midnight depending on traffic) with the rare free night at home in front of me.But somebody thought this was a good idea so here we are: Nola vs Butto, 1:10 first pitchMets are now 9 full games behind the Phils.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I think the 'two and two' has something to do with the 'one andone' coming up in England... but it's still kinda dumb regardless.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Joey Wendle with a well-deserved start.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Can we admit Omar Narvaez sucks and try to find someone else as hard as that would be?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I hope the Mets can stiffen up and avoid a losing streak Butto is my favorite Mets pitcher now replacing Tylord MegillWake up Baty, you can do itBecause you're biggerBecause you're strongerAnd dagnabit you worn born a Hall of Famer!!

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 This has got to be the first Tuesday day game since 1967 or something
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Maybe they think it is 6 PM London time.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Runs score without balls in play when we play day games on Tuesday.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Well, at least someone can get a leadoff runner home.SPOILER ALERTIt wasn't the Mets.Down 0-2.Both runs were walked in.Later
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 The word to describe the Mets today will be "lugubrious." I repeat, "lugubrious."
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Garrett "The Stub" Stubbs. He's 5' 10", significantly lower than the 6' 2"-6' 3" of the average big leaguer. The ladies call me "The Stub," but for different reasons.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Our one-through-four hitters are batting .230 so far this year. How lugubrious.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Kyle Schwarber looks like he eats sticks of butter.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 It's as good a time as any for a baserunner.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I sure hope Butto doesn't get the boot-o when Megill and/or Peterson come back. They've been trended toward inconsistency their whole careers, while Butto has been nothing but promising. I bet Megill could be traded for a used toilet seat and Peterson might get back a few Terry Mulholland rookie cards.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Good to see the stars earning their paychecks.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Baty struck out. Gee, that kid is 1st round draft pick material right there!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Ramirez is in. It's only 2-0. Have the Mets really thrown in the towel?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 It is not deja vu all over again. This is not a mirage, boys and girls. The Mets are being no-hit through five innings.AgainLater
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 oh look, a perfect game. i should watch it on gamecast.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Taylor leading off next inning:(1) Take a strike.(2) If he gets started off with a strike, look to bunt for a hit on the next pitch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 OR ... rip one into left.I can ask Taylor to take, but compliance would not be consistent with his character.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Mr. Met looks weird without a cap.
