Mike Trout tore a meniscus in his left knee and will undergo surgery later this week*.

It is expected to keep him out of action "for an extended time" and while it's expected that he

will play again in the 2024 season, no timetable was given for his return.

Plate appearances for Trout recently:

2021 = 146

2022 = 499

2023 = 362

For some reason which I can't presently ascertain, the start of the Dodgers at DBacks game is being delayed ... in late April, in Phoenix, and in doors.

DBacks: Tonight's game has been delayed due to a bee colony forming on the protective netting behind home plate.[/i]

Hate when that happens!

José Abreu, your 2020 MVP, ten years into his career, having also received MVP support in six other years, somehow just got farmed out by the Astros after hitting .099 with no homers and 3 RBI in April.

Farmed out ... to rookie ball.

I mean, I realize that you get sent to the Florida Complex League because that's where the organization has a surfeit of instructors, and a less competitive environment to get one's act together in. And I realize he'd probably be sent to the organization's Florida State League affiliate, but they're probably on the road. And I realize that it's kind of analogous to a rehab assignment as much as a demotion, but ... .

But man, that's a dis'.

They must have detected something in his swing that needs immediate hands-on instruction and not just playing some games against kids.

The MLBPA must be looking carefully at that move of a ten year vet.

This game, btw, got started 1:55 late.

The beekeeper who was called in to take care of the situation got himself a standing ovation, heard chants of M-V-P,

stayed around to throw out the first pitch, and has now signed a deal with Topps to have a special baseball card made.

The Snakes then capped off the night with a walk-off win.

In a reasonably BIG! early season test the Orioles took 3-of-4 from the Yanx this week in the first matchup between those two ALE rivals, allowing

only six NYY runs in the whole series. Not that the O's knocked the cover off the ball with only 13 scored on their side (MFY pitching has held up

surprisingly well minus Gerritt Cole) but that's a nice statement series win for late April/early May and it puts the O's 1 game on top in the division.

After starting the season 12-3. the Yanx are 8-10 since. Not exactly a collapse but maybe more a regression to the mean.

I was going to guess the A/C wasn't working. Bees weren't even on my radar.

Yanx were getting 2-hit while down 1-0 thru 8 to the Tigers.

In comes DET closer Jason Foley in bottom 9: Single, Bunt Single, Double, Single

Padres can't seem to make up their minds whether they're buying or selling.

Marlins have theirs made up: selling, always selling.

Welcome to the turd of a shitshow that MLB now is. The Mets, one game under .500 and winless in seemingly two or three weeks are currently in the money.

Nowadays, a team could be the 20th best team in all of baseball and still make the playoffs.

Phils, 24-11 -- best record in NL -- win vs SFG tonight on SNB

2.5 up on Atlanta, 7.5 up on NYM

And, btw, we're a full game behind the Nationals in the standings.
