Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Fresh off a walkoff win behind the power bat of Mark Vientos, the Mets host the ascendant Chicago Cubs, sitting a half game out of first place in the National League Central, and two and a half games in front of the Mets in the league-wide standings. New York sends Luis Severino to the mound, and he's been good of late, but the Cubs think they've got something good going also, countering with Jameson Taillon (coincidentally also the name of Bob Murphy's usual order at Kelly's Pub), who has won both of the games he's started this year.CD longboxes for everybody!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Scoring more than 10 runs in this series (seven in regulation innings) would be a nice idea.Mets out-hit [23 to 19] and out-HR'd [3 - 2] the Cards yet were a strike away from getting swept. Not hitting .118 (4/34) w/RiSP might be an effective way to change that.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Marshall with rock-star hair for the only time in his career, probably
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Would be nice to see them win consecutive games, they have not done so since the Fri/Sat games in Los Angeles, ten days ago.

cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 So if Vientos has a big game tonight and Marte comes off the bereavement list tomorrow, does Vientos still get sent down? If not, who goes? Stewart would get my vote.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 No way a hot Vientos gets farmed out. At worst, he'd be sent down for a few days while they shop somebody. But it would be a good problem to have.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 I've been away for a couple of days ... what's up with Narvaez?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Pete Crow-Armstrong in the Cubs lineup Mets City Connects still look like Rockies colors at least toMarshall is still playing at a theater near you
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 I forgot that Counsell is the Cubs manager
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Weak GO by Vientos.Send him down ... what has he done for us lately?!?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Yan Gomes is about as bad offensively as Tomas Nido.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Is that Brodie behind home plate ?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 Not sure.Smooth sailing through three for Severino.Pete Crow-Armstrong better back off!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Three full innings played in slightly over a half hour (approx 34 minutes).

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Looks like he started on Saturday, but was replaced halfway through the game so I didn't realize it.Prior to that it was Tuesday, the middle game in San Fran which makes it four out of the last five starting assignments for Nido.Poor Narvaez. You sign as a starter but get relegated to backup by a fast rising youngster. But then, when that youngster gets shelved by a long-ish term injury, he still doesn't start in favor of the second backup who couldn't make the team over you.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Severino has a no-hitter through five.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 I don't know about you, but I think Luis Severino deserves a little more support here.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 =Cowtipper post_id=153745 time=1714435871 user_id=166]No no through 6.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 So, it's OK to say it after seven, right?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Okay, Severino has pitched 7 strong innings. He deserves some offensive support. Time for some insurance runs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Not just rooting for the no-no ... we NEED the no-no!!
