G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2024 Author Posted April 1, 2024 Dom Smith has signed a Triple-A contract with the Rays.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 White Sox and Tommy Pham are reportedly close to a deal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 It's a dang soft market that takes a guy from being a trade target for contenders at the end of July but unsigned all winter and three weeks into the following season.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Screwing another team by being unable to answer the opening bell. Astros are practically buried
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 Kevin Pillar is now an Angel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you watch Angels games.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Dom Smith signed to a one-year deal by the BoSox, added to the 26-man roster.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Not only escaped a minor-league deal with the Reds to sign with the Sox, and not only got added to the roster, he was in the lineup tonight and went 1-for-4 with an RBI single to put Boston up 5-2 in the fifth.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 Patrick Mazeika and Jack Reinheimer are playing for Gastonia in the Atlantic League, managed by Mauro “Goose” Gozzo.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Author Posted May 9, 2024 The Angels are reportedly picking up Luis Guillorme from the Braves.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 He should finally get some serious PT there. The Angels have, like, five injured infielders, along with Trout out of the lineup.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I suspect the Braves acquired Guillorme only to punish him for being so awesome at baseball

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Yeah, there's definitely that guy!I also thought of Craig Swan, who had a brief cup of coffee with the Angels after the Mets gave up on him.EDIT: Swan had two games with the Angels in 1984, one start and one relief appearance. He pitched a total of five innings and was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA.Despite his brief stint with the Angels, he did manage to get a Topps baseball card:https://www.tcdb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/99/99-116TFr.jpg>
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Author Posted May 9, 2024 Swan was back in camp with the Angels in '85 and was a late cut.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 I went to see the Palm Beach Cardinals and Jupiter Hammerheads last night. Our old friend Bernard Gilkey is the defensive coach for the Cardinals. Something cool about seeing an established veteran like Gilkey coaching in the low-A minors. He made $26 million over the course of his career, so I'm assuming its a labor of love.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2024 Author Posted May 12, 2024 I learned over the weekend that Bernard Gilkey's 1996 Met teammate Charlie Greene has been coaching Milwaukee Brewer catchers for a while.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2024 Author Posted June 17, 2024 From Jeff Passan:Infielder J.D. Davis was designated for assignment by the Oakland A's, sources tell ESPN. Davis was cut by San Francisco in spring training and received only $1.1M of his $6.9M salary before signing with Oakland for $2.5M. If he's not traded by Oakland, he'll be a free agent. Some J.D.s are hotter than others of late.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2024 Author Posted June 20, 2024 Ali Sanchez sent from the Cubs to the Marlins.
