Has Maurico had his surgery yet? I haven't heard anything about when it's supposed to happen.

Did he even have his MRI, or are they using the classic "waiting for the swelling to go down" for the delay?

For the delay in announcing the completion or scheduling of the surgery. I've heard it many times at pressers when reporters asked about injuries. Haven't you?

If you've heard that diagnosticians are waiting for swelling to go down, I would imagine it's because they are.

Why would anybody intentionally delay diagnostics and treatment of their own high-investment players? And then concoct a cover story?

It was not my intention to allege any sinister motives for the delay.

I said it was the reason why nothing's been announced. It is a perfectly valid medical reason.

From Will Sammon in the Athletic:

Ronny Mauricio's surgery for a torn ACL is scheduled for shortly after New Year's Day in New York, a league source said. Those close to him said Mauricio, 22, was in good spirits. Mauricio sustained the right knee injury on Dec. 10 while playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic.

David Altchek got the call.

I've come to associate Altchek with shoulder surgeries. He did Edwin Diaz' knee, also, but hey, Edwin still hasn't re-appeared.

Probably prudent. I know he wants to get ramped up and play ball but getting to spring training injury-free and feeling good would be tops on my list, too.

This is disturbing, I tried to post the article from Puma's tweet, but it's a "members only" article, never saw that in the Post before
