Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Drafted by the Mets in June 2010, it took young Adam over 13 years to finally fulfill his destiny as a Baltimore-born Met.From Baltimore's (Catonsville's, actually) Balkan community, Adam is the son of Frank and Dorothy Kolarek. Frank was a catcher who had reached AAA with the Athletics back in 1979, which I guess means he played with Rickey Henderson. Frank went on to found https://leagueofdreams.org/The League of Dreams, which introduces and facilitates the joy and passion of playing baseball to people with a broad range of disabilities. His 4 2/3 innings pitched with no earned runs is third all-time in Mets history behind legends C.J. Nitkowski and Dan Schatzeder's lofty mark of 5 2/3 innings. Should Adam return, he will have a chance to expand upon that mark, or ruin it. In the meantime, he has been stolen away by thieves from Atlanta.THIEVES!Always sorry to lose somebody with a distinctive delivery, even if his distinction didn't last a week.[FIMG=500]https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_crop,w_4375,h_2460,x_0,y_0/c_fill,w_1080,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/images%2FGettyImages%2Fmmsport%2F17%2F01h98akt313f3egm9epr.jpg[/FIMG]
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 (edited) 0.00 ERA in 4 appearances, more than a K per inning. Good idea, let's get rid of him. Grant Hartwig and Phil Bickford are much better options. That encapsulates my memory of Kolarek. I fondly recall him being a decent piece for oh too short a time.Parenthetically, Sean Reid-Foley has a 0.00 ERA through 5 appearances so far. I'm surprised he's still on the roster at this time, he's doing so well you'd think they would've DFA'd him days ago. Edited September 3, 2023 by Guest
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Wore 66. Threw sidearm.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2023 Author Posted September 3, 2023 Combined with the Josh Edgin legacy, I like the thought of establishing 66 as a number deployed for lefty specialists.
