Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Not slow enough, says the crew in Chelsea.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Another call overturned by 'definitive' evidence that was anything but definitive.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 "Trades are part of the game!!" says Keith, who was traded at 29 years old, and only reported to his new team, called his agent and asked if he had enough money to retire instead. And then, after his first game or two with his new team, was crying in the shower. They're a part of the game, but a crappy part, that doesn't have to be a part at all.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 It's not that Vientos missed the tag, it's that he was out of position off the bag in the first place. He's a two-way player!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 So sucking at pitching, hitting, and defense apparently isn't enough. We're now oh-for-two tonight in tagging runners who were beat by the throw.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 Kinda sucking against one of the worst teams in baseball. Yay.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Two more cracks to find their dignity.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The only thing missing is a popup hitting someone in the face.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 btw, not only would I not be offended by the barefoot guy in the hotel, there's a decent chance that I would be the barefoot guy in the hotel.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 Inning ending double play. I'm glued to my seat!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Bickford kind of falls off the mound like he's going to end up on his face after the pitch.

I rolled my toes under my feet in terror that he would step on them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Bickford has the opposite of the unibrow, sort of rocking a solid two and half inches between his brows.https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-photos/image/upload/d_people:generic:headshot:67:current.png/w_213,q_auto:best/v1/people/641360/headshot/67/current>He'd like to know if you're talking to him. Then who the hell else are you talking to?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 That HR was essentially meaningless cuz we weren't scoring three runs if this game went 20 innings.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 At least it was quick, I'm kinda tired...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 And one last FUCK! from Jeff McNeil to make the evening complete.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Look on the bright side: With the Royals winning the first two games, they've met their goal of winning "the series". They'll surely lose tomorrow's game intentionally because the goal is to win two out of three and they won't win two out of three if they win tomorrow and sweep the series. So the Mets'll win tomorrow. Yay!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 At some point someone needs to acknowledge that the offense is a bigger problem than the pitching and the pitching is not of major league caliber.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Danny Mendick made it over the Mendoza line. Now, sit his ass down and bring up Mauricio.Later

The corner outfield slots. DH. And Brett Baty might one day be an all-star. But there's no delicate way of putting it: right now, he outright sucks. He's dreadful.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Yeah I'm woried about Baty. This has to be his time to establish he's worth having in 2024 or we're going to have another bad year
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Author Posted August 3, 2023 Baty is gonna be huge! Huge, I tell ya.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 That's kind of the problem. If the offense were just plain bad, the solution would be easy - get a new offense. But it's not bad so much as it's a sea of question marks. Does Baty need to develop, or does he just suck? Is Lindor the superstar we need and we thought we were getting, or is he just a pretty good ballplayer getting superstar money? Is Alonso a right handed Babe Ruth, or is he Dave Kingman without the bad attitude and cool stache? Is Vientos? And, WTF, Jeff McNeil?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 In fairness, between trades (Cahna and Pham) and injuries (Nimmo and Marte*), the outfield isn't the outfield. It's mostly a bunch of day laborers who have little bearing on the past or the future.*Might as well throw Tim Locastro in there too.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 What a bottom of the lineup last night. Arauz, Stewart, Ortega, Mendick all in a row. That's a Triple-A set of names right there.
