One-game winner David Peterson takes on one-game winner Patrick Corbin a quarter-way through the season at 4:05 PM. Win totals don't resonate like they used to, but when both pitchers are 1-5 and their respective ERAs (7.68 for Peterson, 4.87 for Corbin) potentially violate the https://www.axios.com/local/washington-dc/2023/01/20/new-debate-dc-height-actD.C building code, you figure well-used bullpens will be on call fairly early at Nationals Park.

You could always bet against that potential course of events. MLB would encourage you to do so, like every half-inning.

I'm having more trouble rooting against Dom Smith than I anticipated, and I'm hoping he gets today off.

4:00 is a weird time for a Monday game, no? Gnats going to FLA next,

you'd think they'd want to do a nooner and get out of Dodge.

I will be there and am not happy that Mr. 7+ ERA is starting when JV is ready to go but hey, it's a long season and things are going great so let's roll the dice and hope for the best (I don't believe that).

I think the rules would require a real (early) day game if either team were leaving the time zone, so this seems sort of like a compromise to attract some skip out of work early fans while still allowing pre-midnight arrivals for both teams.

I know he's trying to get as many righty hitters into the lineup as he can. But Pham at cleanup and Canha at first looks like something we'd see in a split squad Spring Training game.

It's just so wearying, looking up at the score every 1st inning. It's as though they're not prepared, even though you figure they ought to be with Buck in charge.

Getting picked off at first with bases loaded is probably not in the

game winning recipe book. Yikes-o-rama!!

Yes, the basics

They're going to have to score at least four runs to win?

I'm not feeling very confident.
