I hope Ashie is doing alright. It's time to clear the decks on 2022's schedule and start winning some playoff games.

Tomorrow's lineup today is posted below. Or not.

  2) Eduardo Escobar, 2b

  3) Jeff McNeil, dh

  4) Mark Cahna, lf

  5) Daniel Vogelbach, 1b

  8) Mark Vientos, 3b

  9) Luis Guillorme, ss

At least with the Braves having clinched the Mets can rest deGrom, knowing today's game doesn't have any meaning in the standings, and get him ready for WC game 1 Friday.

I hope McNeil sits. As noted in the "Passing Lane" thread, Freeman needs a 4 for 4 to pass him.

I want Jose Butto to be the starter, or someone else who won't be on the postseason roster. I don't know if Butto is on the taxi squad, or if the Mets can manipulate him onto the active roster for today, but that would be my choice if possible.

They don't have roster flexibility for that. Calling up someone means sending someone else down. I guess Megill could be optioned if it's been decided he won't be on the WC series roster.

More likely they just pitch Williams and Megill a few innings each and then spread around the rest to guys who are rested (Lugo, May, Rodriguez).

Would've loved to see Dom Smith get a start.

Escobar at second has injury written all over it-- whither Deven Marrero?

And Darin Ruf should spell McNeil at DH.

Alas, because rosters only go to 28, Smith, Marrero, and Ruf are not on the active roster.

And room can't be made for any of them unless there was an injury/DFA/option which would make that affected payer unavailable for the WC series.

Glad to see it. As soon as Freddie makes his first out, McNeil will clinch the title.

I'm also glad that Pete is sitting. Wish Lindor was as well, but looking at the roster it may not be possible to sit Lindor and McNeil and Escobar without playing someone ridiculously out of position.

Fake lineup wasn't that far off. But man, Lindor has been ridden hard down the stretch this season. All season, really.

Guillorme has a long history at short and Escobar at second, but those are both positions they haven't gotten to play of late. It seemed like a good time to refamiliarize themselves going into the playoffs, just in case a scenario arose.

For the same reason, I proposed a Vogelstart at first. But yeah, I can see using a start at first to give McCann a few more opportunities to find something in his bat.

Rain delay. They should just skip it. Or make it up in December in Florida.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in Astoria and it's barely drizzling, so it looks like they're looking for an excuse to do just that. I'd kind of like to see the Mets finish with the same record as the Braves, but I'd like to see them get some rest even more. And why make the Nats endure any more of this season than they already have?

Freeman doubled in his first AB.

That was a funny shot on SNY: Max, Jake, and Bassitt were talking, Pete has nothing to do so he comes over to join in and they ignored him. I wonder if he said, "what are you talking about... pitching?"
