Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 and Cohen wants to build a casino (and probably will, since he's bribing the right people) you're not gonna recognize the place in 10 years.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I saw big stretches of the iron triangle cleared when I was there this month. Is that the spot where this is all going?

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Pig Adams? What does that mean?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 he's a cop. cops are pigs. and that's the nice word.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 (edited) Wow. That's horrible.Seems like a good place for a stadium -- or any kind of development that would make the area a little nicer for before or after game activities. Edited July 27, 2022 by Guest
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 It would be nice if you could just reel it in a tad. This is a soccer stadium thread.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Isn't 25,000 kinda small for a soccer stadium? I don't follow American soccerat all so don't know maybe that's the norm.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I was sure "FC" stood for "Fucking Cheapskate."
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 the scumbag of a former cop, who's solution to fake crime statistics is to harass homeless people, was relevant to the conversation, as he's got sway in what happens here. Just the "he approves of the stadium" is relevant because there are only so many things you can put there, and mentioning one without talking about the affordable housing (you know, to put the homeless people you're trying to kill in) or the school, is relevant. This is NYC real estate, they're going to be fighting to maximize revenue/profit/riches/power and schools and affordable housing are roadblocks to them that they'd like to avoid, the only thing standing in the way is government regulations that are supposed to help protect citizens, but as we've seen from our favorite ex-cop asshole who lives in NJ, he doesn't care about them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I'd encourage you to take that show on the road and see how it plays.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 =Ceetar post_id=101198 time=1658946134 user_id=102]the Casino would go over Shea.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 the revenue from parking pales compared to the casino revenue. Probably build a few parking garages too I'd imagine. And valet.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Whatever, I'd be shocked if they put a casino where Shea's home plate andbase markers are. I don't care, I take the subway.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 People leaving a casino at all hours of the night with cash in their pockets and getting on the subway. What could possibly go wrong?Later

Traffic and noise aren't compatible for places where families live. You build schools near housing, not in the middle of sports complexes. No one is trying to kill homeless people. Police aren't pigs. I don't recognize the world you claim to live in.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 then you've got blinders on.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I imagine this will get split but I'll ask here.Ceets, there are like 800,000-1,000,000 police officers in the country. They're all pigs to you?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 in their capacity as police officers? yes. we had a whole worldwide summer of protest about this.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Ok, thanks for clarifying your feelings.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 The suggestion in the Real Deal article that a new 25k soccer stadium would be able to host World Cup games is laughable.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 the real deal is just working off the post rumor right? It's apparently based off a PR pitch from Melinda Katz.https://www.fieldofschemes.com/2022/07/28/19064/is-nycfc-building-a-stadium-in-queens-reply-hazy-try-again-later/https://www.fieldofschemes.com/2022/07/28/19064/is-nycfc-building-a-stadium-in-queens-reply-hazy-try-again-later/here's a decent article that breaks down what this means. (spoiler, nothing, it's the post)so let's leave it at this: Where there's the vague hint of smoke, sometimes there's fire, and sometimes there's just the feeble remnants of responsible journalism being burned to the ground in search of clicks. It, btw, links to this https://gothamist.com/news/how-a-mythical-soccer-stadium-became-queens-biggest-political-futbolgothamist post with a lot more "facts" about the situation, which at this point is 3.5 years old but has a nice breakdown of all the underhanded nonsense real estate/political channel/etc stuff going on. A lot has changed, Covid, etc, but nothing substantial. tl:dr is basically the people that want the stadium, the money, the go ahead to build, (Wilpon et al) are using the Post to push their agenda.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 yeah, i mean, any world cup games that happen in "ny" will be obviously happening in nj, in the meadowlands. duh. unless it's the jets and not nyfc that get a new stadium in queens. not in some quaint little indoor arena.
