i seem to remember Pedro Martinez working late into a game there with a no-hitter going. But I may be conflating, because I remember Gerald Willliams in the outfield, which suggests that it was during that 2005 post-collision period when both Beltran and Cameroonie were out.

Was a one season 2013 Met (one month really). I have no memory of his Mets stint.

I always think I saw him pitch at Citi Field, then I remember that I conflate him with Aaron Laffey and I don't remember which I saw.

Poor Aaron Laffey got into four games with the Mets and one was Throwback-to-the-Swoosh-Everyone-Reviled Day.

My gander of your Gonder goosed my attention. According to his SABR bio, Jesse Gonder made the 1969 Padres out of Spring Training but never got into a game and was gone after a couple of weeks, à la Jerry Moses with the 1975 Mets. Learn something new about a veteran catcher every day!

My gander of your Gonder goosed my attention. According to his SABR bio, Jesse Gonder made the 1969 Padres out of Spring Training but never got into a game and was gone after a couple of weeks, à la Jerry Moses with the 1975 Mets. Learn something new about a veteran catcher every day!

You are the winner of our "Find the Interloper " contest. Indeed, Gonder was a Padres ghost, their first one in fact as Gonder was on their 25 man roster from the Padres inaugural game. And then Gonder was a goner, never to appear on a major league roster ever again.

Believe it or not, but the Mets wore those home uni throwbacks to the 1993 "swoosh" on the road. That picture of Laffey is from a road game. At Denver. It was the 20th anniversary of the Rockies first game ever, which was against the Mets at Shea, and so to celebrate the anniversary, the Rockies wore throwback 1993 road unis, just as they had worn during their inaugural debut. And the Mets participated in the celebration by wearing throwbacks of the same unis they'd worn when the Rockies debuted.

Me, I wonder if the Rockies paid for the Mets throwbacks because I cant see eff 'n Jeff splurging for that. Especially in 2013.

Agee, I'm pretty sure, was the last Dodger Spring training cut from the team that would go on to win the pennant. One new Dodger outfielder that did make the squad in '74 was Agee's Astro teammate, Jimmy Wynn, who might've been the best Dodger that year and who was unquestionably better than the undeserving guy that, nonetheless, won the league MVP that season.

The Mets from Mobile.who grew up together, Agee and Jones , sure did fade fast, young and suddenly, didnt they?

Yeah.

I'm pretty sure Agee was suffering from early onset diabetes or a related condition.

I figured someone would've found this interloper much quicker because I played the same Gonder interloper card four or five years ago. And that led to a multi post exchange with Zvon doing a lot of the posting, I think. He really enjoyed these card threads.
