Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 May weekend: Saturday (night game) Sunday (night game) Memorial Day Monday (night game)If Abner Doubleday were still alive he'd be rolling over in his grave.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 The sweep requires more Kinks references!I was a at a minor league game last night, and a guy was wearing a Motorhead "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith" t-shirt. When I commented on it, he said, "The loudest concert I've ever been to." The second loudest, he said, was The Kinks. Didn't see that coming. Not a loud song:

Saturday night with post-game Fireworks on a holiday weekend is a great game; no issues there at all. And ESPN national TV games can't be a surprise anymore (it wasn't as if other teams were playing night games). But on the holiday itself? The Mets are on a homestand and Washington played yesterday afternoon, traveling all the way from…DC.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 McNulty is DHing and batting 5th, Zimmo still out, NICK bats 9th, Nido, no Dom Smith
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I got Darling Nikki batting eighth here: https://www.mlb.com/starting-lineupshttps://www.mlb.com/starting-lineupsI got to beta-test a time machine yesterday. You can't travel to the future and interact with it or anything like that, but you can just move around and witness it in a sort of ghost-like state. I went 20 years into the future, and discovered that Summer 2022 in New York is still celebrated as The Summer of Plummer.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 OK, it seems (seems) that Buck has decided that McNeil belongs in the 5 hole and Marte in the 2 hole, rather than vice versa, which is where I'd put them. A little odd, given their skills, but maybe Buck knows something I don't. McNeil has a better OBP and slightly lifetime better SLG (not very much better) so I'd want him hitting #2.

The Mets are on a homestand and Washington played yesterday afternoon, traveling all the way from…DC.I suppose it could be worse, the Yanx (and several other teams) aren't scheduled at all today (as we haven't been on multiple holidays over the past few years). And the Saturday/Fireworks deal is fine except that we all know that Saturday night games are now the norm, including in the northeast in April.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Buck has rarely used Marte deep in the lineup except when he was struggling. So it seems to be a choice between McNeil or Escobar 5th, and that seems to favor McNeil
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 NICK is being interviewed on the radio pregame. Mentioned he was grateful his Wifey of 10 years was there. Fan retrieved the ball for him, he exchanged it for a bat, will give the ball to his parents. Very polite, almost seems more like an Elliot than a NICK.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I'm guessing that (1) Buck likes Marte's speed/power combo in the two-hole, (2) McNeil's wheels are less than ideals, and (3) putting your toughest out behind Alonso is just a kind thing to do for the big guy.Mickey has hit wherever he's batted.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 This is about the worst inning I've seen the team play all season.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Peterson rackytacked. Didn't seem to have a feel for anything and Ron seemed to infer he was tipping his changeup. And two on with nobody out.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I think Pete just swung at ball 7.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Hopefully, a little rest didn't mess up McJeff's mojo.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Would have liked more, but it's a start. Now Peterson needs to step up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Damn! The replay review overturned what would have been the GiDP of the year.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Hitting 4 balls to Guillorme is never a good strategy.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I watched the 1st inning with a WSH fan and he was beaming after his team scored 3 in the first. I just said, "this Mets team is relentless." I hope he's listening in the car now at 6 to 3.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Lindor keeps the conga line moving.
