Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Back in the nation's capital, the Mets try to make it three in a row with Tylor Megill on the bump. The Nats counter with Aaron Sanchez, a righthander coming off of a brutal Coors Field beatdown. Look for lefties to return to the lineup, including Smith and possibly Jankowski.Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso have played in every game this season so far. I mean, yeah, that includes DH'ing, so it's totally cheating, but it's something to consider as you play Guess Tomorrow's Lineup!

He's played enough to suggest that this isn't a small-sample-size anomaly, but not enough to state that as a proven fact, so when to rest him if you think he needs a day off? Hard to say. Better not to rest him at all, I'd say.One thing's for sure: until shown otherwise you NEVER want to cheat him out of an at-bat against the Nats. He's completely crushed their pitching over his career: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=alonspe01&year=Career&t=bhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=alonspe01&year=Career&t=b
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Win tonight and we'll have surpassed last season's high-water mark. Our failure to exceed that 8-10-games-over range we hovered in while the rest of the division was struggling doomed us last year. Like then we have some space but we need more. More More!!

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Nats look like Benny Hill on the first two batters and the Mets get an early run.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 POLAR VORTEX! Just like that, it's 3-0.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Oof. Megill gives it right back, and isn't fooling anybody.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 And then some.If he can't get Gordon here, his night may be over.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 And he doesn't. Mets down 5-3.Serves me right for leaving the "Strange-" out of Strange-Gordon's name.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I think it was from a Snickers commercial from a couple years ago: 'Not Going Anywhere for a While?'
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Guillorme hitting .379 since lopping the beard off.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 No, this is a new beard.I only wish that batting average was augmented by some baserunning achievements.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Just think about how much fun this comeback is going to be.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 I also wish there was some way that baserunning achievments could make a meaningful difference in an 8-3 game.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Well, Megill was basically pitching batting practice there. Buck with the mercy hook.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Howie Rose talking smack about Nationals Park.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Keith is into Batman '66. I wonder if he saw my cards?
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Keith's fave is Julie Newmar (Mine, too). Gary chimes in that Eartha Kitt was also Catwoman. They forgot about Lee Meriwether.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Keith says "Buorno" instead of Buono when answering his own question about who played King Tut.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 No Pitcher of the Month this month for Megill.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 It'd be a good game for Dom Smith to get plugged back in.

Like KC, I can still listen to selections from the 2 radio friendly albums in the 80's, there are some good riffs in those records.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 It'd be a good game for the Mets not to pack their bats away after the second inning.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Need an extra base hit here from Starling.
