Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Hey! I'm excited that I get to go to a game at Citi Field this July, my first since 2009. Looking forward to seeing my brick, and the new Seaver statue. I have tickets for a Friday night game, and have some flexibility with my time. Has anyone ever done a Citi Field Tour? Looking at the list of opportunities, it seems like most of the areas are places I can go to without needing the tour to do it. I realize the non-game-day tours have more opportunities. Has anyone ever taken the tour before? Is there anything safe to see in the area to fill my time between the tour ending and gates opening? The Unisphere is a short walk away? Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Flushing Meadow park is fun-- Unisphere but also all the people, Museum of the City of New York right there. Not much to do at the Marina, but peaceful waterfront, great view of LaGuardia, good place to just take a walk. downtown Flushing -- just walk over the bridge-- is very vibrant and has lots of authentic Korean and Chinese food. City unto itself. Sketchier hood but also very authentic-- could explore Corona-area restaurants (Columbian food, Ecuadorian etc)
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I should say if they don't take you into the clubhouse or dugout or bullpens or inside the scoreboard, that's a lot of please pay us to so we can sell you something on the stadium tour.Other than the auditorium and pressbox, thery're just seats inside rooms and much o the stuff you can do for free depending on where you're tickets are

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I took one of the tours many years ago, and it did include dugout and clubhouse access, as well as some other otherwise non-public areas. Those are just unlikely to be available during a homestand. That said, I'd still do it. I would typically always try to take a tour when seeing a ballpark for the first time.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 Good info! Thank you! Most of the other tours I've been on -- Wrigley, Minute Maid, Busch 1, Metrodome, Target -- have take us in the dugout and bullpen. But I get that its easier on non-game days. The Target Field Tour was on a game day and we didn't get on the field, but it was still pretty extensive. The Minute Maid one was a blast. it was just me and two employees, and they let me do all kinds of things -- answer the phone in the bullpen, changes the numbers in the manual scoreboard. Wrigley was pretty good, too, getting us in the visitors clubhouse.I'll be stopping for a game in Pittsburgh on my way, and that tour looks pretty extensive - and less expensive.

This part of the park is under the jurisdiction of the 110 Precinct in ... oh, yes, and it looks like we have a guest.""Tim Hamulack! How long have you been down here?""You've got to get in touch with my lawyer, man!!"

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 We've done Wrigley and Fenway. They were both extensive for different reasons, although I definitely feel like we got to see more "behind the scenes" stuff at Wrigley. The Fenway tour was HUGE, though, so I also understand the logistical challenges of moving big groups through smaller areas.I'd pay for the Edgy tour, definitely.
