Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 The Mets return to the place where the 2022 season began, hopefully with far less inclement weather than last time.Forecast calls for a springy warming trend. This matchup features Patrick Corbin, who the Mets tagged for two runs in four innings on opening day, sending him skidding toward a line that currently reads at 0-5, 7.16. That's certainly not ideal, but it's a safe conclusion that he's better than that. His last loss was an eight inning complete game in Colorado. Look for a Canha and a Davis in the lineup, and possibly a Guillorme, who seems to get starts against lefties. Alonso and Davis each have four homers against the guy, in 32 and 30 at-bats, respectively.Corbin hails from Clay, NY, the most densely populated suburb of Syracuse. The Mets counter with TBD, who is probably going to look like Carrasco or Walker or Megill. The rainouts have given Buck Showalter a chance to reshuffle his hand, so we'll see.[FIMG=750]https://clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Day151.00.27-1.jpg[/FIMG]
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 My new residence is actually also in the town of Clay, though Corbin attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School and not the high school (Liverpool) that my kids attend.CNS vs Liverpool is one of the big rivalries locally as both districts are quite populous (I think each school graduates 600-800 kids per year), compared to other smaller suburban districts. It was a big deal when my son's volleyball team beat CNS HS for the sectional volleyball championship this past winter as it had been 15+ years since that had happened. In other news, the three pitchers' lines for Washington this week:Today: Corbin (0-5, 7.16 ERA)Tomorrow: Sanchez (1-2, 8.56)Thurs: Adon (1-5, 6.99)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 The Nats' 10-20 record is something of a reciprocal to the Mets' 20-10.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 If it's Carrasco tonight, he has given up 5 HR's to Cruz. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/31313/teamId/21https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/31313/teamId/21 Yadiel Hernandez is WSH's hottest hitter. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/40822https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/40822Pete and JD each have 4 bombs against Corbin who has pitched better since changing C's to Riley Adams. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/31313/teamId/21https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/31313/teamId/21I will be in Section 115 tonight.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 Cruz appears to be playing for his big league life right now. The next time these two teams match up, his name could be Robinson Canó.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Our friendly little gascan Patrick Corbin takes the hill tonight against Cookie.Corbin has only allowed one HR so far this season but...TEE TIME!

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 I like our lineup.I don;t mean this one any more than others, but the fact that we have a good solid major leaguer in every slot, even at C, sorta
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 I'm hoping getting dropped to the bottom of the lineup adds the same terrifying fire to Eduardo Escobar's game that it has added to McNeil's.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Carrasco cruising through two. Booth says Nats have two of the skinniest guys in baseball.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Zimmo made a nice play to start the tag out at the plate
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Quick cut off of a ball druven deep in the gap, kept the damage to 1 run
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Nice cut off by Nimmo + good relay easily cuts down the second run at the plate.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Also excellent relay from McNutty, he was out by 8 feet
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 And both guys walk to threaten here with 1 out in the 5th
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 What happened to Alcides Escobar? Did Dave Martinez make a last-minute change?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Carl Edwards Jr., who I didn't know was a National, wearing no. 58. He wore 6 with the Cubs.I think they said Esco was a late scratch, not sure why
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Davis finally has a hit. 1st + 2nd, 0 out
