Mets +2: the Mets, and everyone else, can add two players tomorrow:

Carlos Carrasco will be taken off the IL by Saturday so that's one unless they send down Tommy Hunter or Mychael Givens.

Travis Jankowski is a strong possibility as he gives them depth in the OF and a badly needed pinch runner. (He's not on the 40-man.)

Mark Vientos is hot and could spark the offense but is he going to play? (He's on the 40-man.)

Michael Perez could return to allow Buck to more freely pinch-hit for McCann and Nido. (He's on the 40-man.)

Didn't see this coming, exactly.

INF Brett Baty underwent an MRI earlier today that revealed a UCL tear in his right thumb. He has been placed on the 10-Day IL, retroactive to August 29. He will undergo surgery tomorrow. A typical return to play for this type of injury is five weeks. Additional updates will be provided as appropriate.

OF Terrance Gore has been selected from Triple-A Syracuse…He will wear #4.

Gore's arrival means an inconvenient truth for Bretty Baty.

The Mets are calling up infielder Deven Marrero and right-hander Adonis Medina from Syracuse as their two September call-ups.(as per a minor league report)

Does Venitos have to perform sexual favors to be called up?

it's not like the Mets could benefit from another run producing hitter on the roster...they are winning games by easily outslugging the opponents virtually every night...

Found this on CBS.com:

The Triple-A regular season was originally scheduled to run from Tuesday, April 5 to Wednesday Sept. 21 this year. That is six days after MLB Opening Day to a week and a half before the end of the MLB season. The Triple-A season will still begin on April 5, though it will now end a week later, four days before the end of the MLB regular season.

Under the old Sept. roster expansion rules (up to 40 players on the active roster) teams could simply call up any Triple-A players they wanted to have available when the Triple-A season ended. With the new Sept. roster expansion rules (only one additional hitter and pitcher), all those Triple-A players who could be called up at some point don't really have anywhere to go to stay sharp. Expanding the Triple-A season allows them to stay game ready deeper into the season.

When Guillorme is deemed healthy, a 28-man roster move will have to be made. Same for Carrasco (and Megill and Drew Smith).

Trevor May goes on the IL. Bryce Montes de Oca called up.

Marrero DFA'd; Montes de Oca to the IL (hamstring tightness).

May and Guillorme are activated.

Givens to the IL (COVID, apparently), Nogosek activated.

Also, Marrero passed through waivers and was outrighted to the Cuse.

I wonder if the Mets would be better served with Dom on the roster rather Vientos. Dom is hot in Syracuse and is a good fielder so he could give Pete a needed half-day off. I know that Dom is a lefty and Vientos is a righty so it impacts the bench but I'd like to see Pete semi-chill for a day or two without impacting the defense.

I don't disagree that Pete could use a day off (or some half-days at DH) but does adding an extra lefty bat really help? Would you play Smith over Vogelbach? Or over Ruf against a lefty?

I could also see an argument that Terrence Gore isn't really needed.

Gore isn't going anywhere (except for 2d base). I'm not advocating for this move as far as the bench goes, in fact, it's the wrong move for the bench, but I think it's the right move for Pete.
