lol, I immediately thought of Leather Tuscadaro (aka, Suzy Quatro's Happy Days character) as soon as the name surfaced as a candidate

A follow-up article said that the Mets are trying to make the pick by the end of next week.

All I know is that if eff 'n jeff were still running things, Showalter wouldn't be within a million miles of the Mets radar and the managerial search woule be down to local NYC PSAL High School baseball coaches.

Yeah, they do get things right sometimes. In no way is Showalter head and shoulders above anyone else, if he's even above, which is unlikely.

Also letting a veteran player, especially one who isn't even here, pick the manager or even be rumored to picking the manager is extremely stupid. It's increasingly clear that Sandy/Steve are pushing this "fix the clubhouse" narrative hard, plus we know they really like big trendy names over simply good people.

Except in the front office obviously, where it's okay to continue to employee sexual harassers.

I'm not poo-pooing Puma, or persons with knowledge, but this stuff is funny.

Impressed, went really well. It. Who can sleep now??

What would be funny would be if Puma's source, the "person with knowledge of the Showalter interview", turned out to be Showalter himself.

I'm on board with Buck. He's not going to cost us games with many dumbass strategy calls. Been there, done that.

On the Twitter, Mark Simon told a story of being on the baseball tonight set with Buck and him noticing that 2 digital clocks were 2 seconds apart from one another

The current field includes a dude not previously identified.

Brad Ausmus, Joe Espada, Bob Geren, Clayton McCullough, Matt Quatraro and Buck Showalter are all going through the interview process for the Mets' open managerial job, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation, with several of those set to advance to a second round of the process as soon as next week. The club did not confirm the news.

McCullough has only one year of experience on a big league staff, serving as first-base coach for the National League runner-up Dodgers in 2021. Prior to that, he served as Los Angeles' field coordinator and as a manager in Toronto's Minor League system. At 41 years old, he is the youngest Mets managerial candidate.

I was half listening to the WCBS sports report while driving and heard the "mystery interviewee" was LA first base coach (couldn't hear the first name) McCullough.

I wondered if ex-major league catcher Clyde McCullough was still around.

When I got home I checked.

Clyde is dead at the present time.

Never heard of this McCullough.
