It's not easy, though — once something's installed on-site, then it becomes much harder to do than if it were in a foundry setting. It's not unprecedented, but it would be quite a production. The hardest part would be matching the patina.[/bLOCKQUOTE]I say send it back and order a marble one with the right font! Edited May 11, 2022 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I'm not a sculptor (and I don't play one on TV), but if you replace both digits, an imperfectly matching patina may be a way to make a virtue of necessity, allowing his number to pop a little, and toss a few chips in the direction of celebrating players through their digits. It's a practice I mostly think has gone way overboard (I mean, Citi's Jackie Robinson sculpture is just a big pair of digits), but if it's likely to be a subtle difference anyhow, and it'll give the back view of the statue a little more to look at. A little color contrast isn't a sin if there's an internal logic to it.http://offbeat.group.shef.ac.uk/statues/images/baseball/Robinson_Brooks_2A.jpg>(Calbert?)
