Go Sawx! Stanton turns a near HR into a single by stupidly watching the ball in the first inning.

Nice to see that Schwarber can hit HRs off both NYC teams, not just one.

Every other BoSox who swung at that high fastball from Cole tonight has missed it by about a foot.

Wow-zers!!! Cole pulled after 2+ IPs (12 batters faced, six retired)

Preemptive genius by Boone or job-insecure panic?

I suspect they are paying Cole $300 million for exactly these kinds of games. And they were hoping to get more out of him than three innings!!

Eovaldi follows with an early exit of his own following a solo homer and an infield single.

Some guy shy managers, man.

Sure. But also a big difference between getting two innings out of your guy vs five-1/3, and particularly so when Mr. Two-plus is the highest paid in the game.

Gotta like two off the wall shots by Stanton which wound up yielding a total of two total bases (I'm assuming they gave him a single-plus-throw on that last one) and an out.

Will Cole wear his "Team Boras" cap to the press Zoom call after the game, or was that just an Astros thing? Or, will he appear in the post-game call at all?

Agreed. Just a comment about the environment. No doubt that Booney blinked way first, and way most.

John Sterling, "It is HIGH, It is FAR, it IS..."

a single, John.

Loiasiga throws five pitches after being brought into the game and he needs a mound conference before being allowed to throw another.

When I'm made king of the world, outlawing this will be my first edict.

and, btw, this was another example of a PH'er causing a mound conference because those, stunningly, don't count against a team's total.

Schwarber has been a high-school hellcat since that trade. His OBP as a Sock was .435!

And man, pulling Plaweck for a pinchie after he tagged Judge out in the face is a kick in the nuts.

Hey, Boston, I'm trying to LIKE you!

Sawx do seem determined to go to as many relievers as possible until they find one who Doesn't have his game tonight.

They haven't found him yet, but they'll keep searching.

Well, this game is a lot of things, but at its core, it's a Yankee-Red Sox game.

If there were any two teams in baseball who could be statistically shown to average a longer game time per matchup, I would call bullshit on the statistics.

How 'bout the insult to injury ending to that inning?

Chad Green faces two hitters, gives up a bases-loading walk followed by a 2R single, and only gets out of the inning via a bad baserunning play ... and then he gets stopped by the ump for illegal substance check on his way back to the dugout.
