Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Oh good, another mound conference. It's been two batters/nine pitches since you last talked to him
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 McNeil's due for a homer.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 How come the Cards aren't wearing a Lou Brock patch this year? First ballot HOF'ers aren't good enough to honor like that?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Wow, what a bad pitch to swing at and he reaches anywutz.Al Mora, make a memory.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Aaron Altherr is the only other Met with initials A.A.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 After the Baez HR, the Mets had nine separate PAs with the potential to win the game. ONE got the ball out of the infield, a Pillar bases empty FOThe others were a K, a BB, Foul Out, and five weak grounders.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Author Posted September 14, 2021 This team is just larded with relentless failure

But four key players, Lindor, McNeil, Conforto and Smith have grossly, grossly underperformed. Three of those guys are all-stars and the fourth, Smith would've very likely been invited to last year's all-star game if there was one. What team could overcome that?Did you hear that the Mets last nine losses were all by o e run, a major league record? Never been done before.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 That was an incorrect note Gary was handed. The Mets lost by seven just the night before. But definitely a LOT of recent 1-run losses.

So much weak contact, but some of that resulted in opportunity. The hitting approach has just never resolved itself. What a punt this year has been
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Man, what a bummer. I went to bed after Baez tied it, on work travel, in Texas and after a 19 hour day that started at 4:30 AM EDT. So I missed the worst of it at least.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I can't understand that. Just moments earlier, the booth was underscoring how Pillar couldn't be off with contact, and shouldn't be off with contact, that he had to give the team two chances to drive him home, and then he takes off on contact, gets caught in no man's land, and they say that there was nothing he could do.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 He probably woulda been out anyway but continuing home and maybe drawing a more panicked throw might have been the better gamble.I'm going to show this to Lunchpail (muted) BTW to illustrate all that is happening when a team executes a tricky play. The Cards did everything right there
