Weird, convoluted thru line to make, especially leaving out Ryan's appearance in the 1986 NLCS.



When Ryan was brought up, I was expecting the infamous Dick Young column suggesting jealously of the Ryans by Nancy Seaver to be discussed the accelerated Seaver's desire to be moved. And that being a stepping stone to the sale, Cashen's hiring, etc.

I just barely read that yesterday on my lunch break at work...where M Donald Grant's minion Dick Young drove Seaver to demand an immediate trade when he wrote a column stating that Seaver only wanted a salary bump because Nancy was jealous of Ryan's wife making more money

Also way too far of a leap to go from “the flotsam and jetsam that the Angels replaced Ryan in the 1980 rotation with” to bringing Candelaria and Sutton nearly half a decade later as key members of the 1986 AL West champs just so he could get to Seaver being on the 1986 Red Sox.

Kison rhymes with Gleason, not Bison or Tyson.
