ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 It's a Jake Marisnick sighting. Dom draws LFLFGM!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I think they're starting to sour on Nimmo, not as an overall player but certainly as a CF'er. The last few games haven't helped him much there.Billy Hamilton was in CF in last night's (faux) starting lineup and now Marisnick, two guys who have barely been w/the team all year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Quickie MFY KTE (as I've seen almost none of their games this season):-- 16-11 but that's after losing their last 5 straight (TBR x 3 then a DH to the Braves) and are suddenly 2.5 games in back of Tampa in the AL East-- Anyone who had 1st sacker Luke Voit as the team's leading HR hitter step up and collect your prize. The former 22nd round pick by StL now has 46 HRs as a NYY (11 this season) in a little overone full season's worth of games (180) after hitting all of five in pieces of two seasons (70 games) w/the Cards. The Yanx traded Chasen Shreve to get him back on the 2018 trading deadline-- Of course part of the reason Voit is leading the team is that Giancarlo Stanton (3 HRs) is out (stop the presses!!) and Aaron Judge (9) is out, DJ LeMahieu (2) is out, and now Gleyber Torres (1) is also outThose four combined to hit 712 HRs (or something close to that) in 2019-- Catcher Gary Sanchez, who seems to lurch between being very dangerous and a complete mess, is currently in the 'mess' stage: .139/.253/.361 in 72 ABsOn defense he's constantly a mess. Brett Gardner (36 y/o) might also be slip-slidin' towards his sell-by date: .172/.290/.362-- We'll see lefty Jordan Montgomery is the 1st game: 4 starts this year, 19.1 IP, 10 Runs on 18 Hits, 3 BB, 14 K, 3 HRHe missed the back half of 2018 and most of 2019 with UCL surgery.-- They can go fuck themselves.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Wacha getting Whacka-ed
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 The Mets top of the 1st was over in seconds. This half-inning feels like an hour already.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Here's a strategy. If there's a game situation, try to pitch to this Ford guy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Well, either Wacha found himself, or there's a big falloff from the front to the back side of the Yankees' lineup.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Down 2-0 while we're still waiting for our first contact with a pitch. And you hate coughing up two runs in an inning where they hit ONE ball hard.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 31 pitches by Wacha in the first inning on a doubleheader day
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Let's make some contact, Mets.OE: Thanks, Canó!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I think Wacha threw as many pitches to Sanchez as Montgomery did in the entire first inning (13).And I wasn't exactly high on Alonso breaking the K-streak.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Have NYM batters swung at a strike yet?
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I don't think they're going to be scoring much for Wacha today.Remember when some people thought JD Davis was a good defensive third base option? Ole!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 The Mets are chasing and the Yanks not today.Nice to see Marizzy lay off the junk.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Junky, but it's dropping off the table like Johan's so far. I knew his change was good, but so far, it's been otherworldly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Rosario is looking up from the bottom of deep, dark hole.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Wacha: 31 pitches in the 1st inningMontgomery: 32 pitches thru 2 outs in the 3rd
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 We're almost halfway home in an hour. This game feels very uphill. The Mets just don't hit much this year, yet anyway
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 We need action in the pen and we need it fast. Before this game's part of the past.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 I just remembered that this is a seven-inning game. Less time to catch up, but it's looking like there's plenty of time to fall further behind.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Problem with being down by four runs (no matter how many innings you get) is that we'll need at least 20 baserunners just to cash in four of them.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I feel badly for Alonso. He was so excited to start the season and he is just not getting it done

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 If it's a change-up out of the strikezone you know that Pete will be swinging at it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Pretty muchMaybe a deep prospect or two could get called up and distinguish themselves
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Maybe they should try NOT swinging with soggy rolled-up newspapers. The contact might be a bit better with something else (say wood maybe) and a ball might possibly get out of the infield.
