kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 The Mets have the names and addresses of hundreds of thousands of fans. Everytime a ball this season is retired in a game that would be chucked intothe stands they should randomly mail a game-used ball to someone.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 The Beta-Josh Smith guy looks like a righthanded Jon Niese.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 That Ozzie Smith stop by Rosario is going to light the fuse on his season

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 You guys are dreaming. The Mets are in the business of charging their fans for nice experiences, and certainly don't always deliver them.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Poor Kilome. They send him out for one more inning, and you just know he's getting sent down 10 minutes after the game ends.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 I just noticed that the Bosox are losing again to the mfys, they are 6-16 this year including the 2 gifts we gave them.

They should scored about 10.The problem isn't that they scored only 3 times after bags-loaded/no outs (2.5 is about the norm) ... it's that they scored only one additional run after they cashed in two and still had 2nd & 3rd/no outs even though they tacked on another double.Yeah and add in the dumb baserunning, the stupid managerial challenges that are ineffective (I feel like you should win 90% of those you initiate) the hbps, the walks on both sides, the bad outfielding on both sides. Just awful baseballHere's my solution: Lose a challenge and you lose the right to challenge again for a week!THAT would stop those piddley-ass challenges. The managerial challenges remain annoying. I don't want to find out if the string hanging off the second baseman's glove may have grazed a shoelace of the baserunner or f a ball down the line may have kicked up a microscopic amount of chalk. I want the baserunner in Galaragga's "perfect game" called out at first base because he was out by a foot.I'm down with no challenges for a week if you lose one.On the flip side, the humble umpires should be allowed to ask for one whenever they want. But demanding they do so without using your own challenge will be punished the same as arguing balls and strikes.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 I'm not known for my marketing acumen, but it seems to me that a lottery of free ballz are a low-cost value added to increase sales of $68 corrugated plastic photo cutouts.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 It'[s great marketing but the Mets can't or won't be bothered. The Met thing to do would be to collect them in bunches and then have Paul Sewald and Nimmo do a camera-ready donation to a little league or something. Cheaper and from the Mets' POV the kind of wide-ranging PR pop they like. The one-to-one marketing with fans is all transactional in nature to them.
