Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Tim Britton of The Athletic had a good article about constructing the best possible Mets lineup with 9 players whose tenures never overlapped. It's a good read if you subscribe, but even if you don't, it's a fun exercise. We are only considering the Mets portion of the career here for those inclined to pick Spahn or Mays.Britton has three possibilities in his article, but no need to spoil it. I came up with this team. They might be a little lacking defensively but should hit a lot of homers.Granderson LF (2014-17)Alfonzo 3B (1995-2002)Beltran CF (2005-2011)Alonso 1B (2019)Johnson SS (1985-1993)Marlon Byrd RF (2013)Ron Hunt 2B (1964-1966)Alex Trevino C (1978-1981)Seaver PWhaddya got?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Man, I tried to start putting a lineup together and it's tough. I haven't read the article. What is the determination for pitchers? Or is he only looking at batters?
