Best Mets Lineup that Never Played Together

Tim Britton of The Athletic had a good article about constructing the best possible Mets lineup with 9 players whose tenures never overlapped. It's a good read if you subscribe, but even if you don't, it's a fun exercise. We are only considering the Mets portion of the career here for those inclined to pick Spahn or Mays.



Britton has three possibilities in his article, but no need to spoil it. I came up with this team. They might be a little lacking defensively but should hit a lot of homers.

Alfonzo 3B (1995-2002)

Beltran CF (2005-2011)

Alonso 1B (2019)

Johnson SS (1985-1993)

Marlon Byrd RF (2013)

Ron Hunt 2B (1964-1966)
