One inning in, no score between the Dinos and Lions. Piped-in noise compensating for total lack of fans and it's only kind of bizarre. Players in game are unmasked but other personnel take precautions.

Aaron Altherr sighting.

Hey, I'm not the only one!

The Lions pitcher Baek has a Zito-y thing going on, between the wiffle-ball curve and the well-located junk besides.

Synthetic crowd noise notwithstanding, every game in a fanless setting is gonna be the first inning of the opener of a twi-night makeup doubleheader between the Marlins and whoever plays the Marlins.

No cheerleaders/cheer managers/mascots? If anything, you think they'd be even more essential... [puts on gravitas-loaded voiceover vox] in times like these.

The Dinos' mascots break dance. IN THE SUITS.

It's a good thing it ain't brought to you by White Castle. I feel like these guys generally have a bit of trouble with the slider.

Can't decide whether Eduardo Perez or Luis Rojas is having the intermediate if not last laugh.

Considering how unexpectedly excited I found myself regarding the A-Rod/J-Lo rumors, I can't say for sure I wouldn't prefer the Hospital For Special Surgery Mets.

Was this on ESPN2? Wasn't to be found yesterday or today in on screen channel guide.

Nevermind, channel guide revised and ESPN2 it is and set to DVR.

I was up for work and naturally the game started 45 min late due to a rain delay. I watched a bit, though, and it's definitely baseball, shit-awful ESPN announcing notwithstanding. I'll be tuning in.

Should we maybe decide as a group which KBO team deserves our short term Metly loyalty?

LG Twins cheerleaders masked, seeming vaguely pornographic. Also, with empty stadium, not technically leading anybody in cheers.

Jung Soo Bin of Doosan Bears chokes up. Eduardo Perez invokes Felix Milan, if not parody runoff.

Early 2-0 lead for Doosan, which is something people watching a baseball game say.

They also have sacrifice flies in Korea, though there they call them chips. Doosan up 3-0.

LG Twins starter — an opener — sucks. Down 5-0. If they're supposed the KBO Mets, I don't need an extra set.

But it's still early.

As dippy as the piped-noise is, I prefer it to the blaring between-pitches musical/audio cues one hears at virtually empty Citi Field in contention-free Septembers.

So I'm following this thread from bed - wide awake - and I finally bit and put the TV on.

So why aren't the players wearing masks over their mouths? Did they all test negative and are in a quarantine bubble?

I haven't heard maskless players specifically addressed. This from a wire story in the San Jose Mercury News:

Players and coaches go through fever screenings before entering stadiums, and umpires and first- and third-base coaches must wear masks during games. Players are prohibited from high-fiving teammates or signing autographs. Chewing tobacco was banned to prevent spitting. Masks and latex gloves are required at training facilities.

Fans will be barred from games until the KBO is convinced that the risks of infection have been minimized. If any member of a team tests positive for the coronavirus at any point of the season, the league will be shut down for at least three weeks.

It was light in Seoul and dark in New York when this game started. Now it's dark there and it's light here, except metaphorically.

If nothing else, this gives MLB a blueprint on how to phase baseball back in.

Relying on a functioning government, apparently, is not remotely an option.

I watched an inning or so earlier (still can't escape Eduardo Perez) and from a broadcast standpoint the lack of spectators did not bother me at all. In fact, the lack of crowd shots was a good thing, I thought. I can only hear Keith commenting on a dad and daughter eating ice cream so many times.
