Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 With all sports on hiatus at the moment, I believe Tom Brady is currently the ONLY topic being discussed by sports yakkers so of course even a baseball quiz involves him.Brady, about whom you may have heard is about to join the Tampa Bay Bucs, will become the 4th player in history from among the four American team sports to play:- at least 20 seasons with one team AND win a championship with that team AND win a league MVP w/that team ... and then change teamsTwo of the other three are baseball players. And then for bonus points you can guess the fourth dude.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 Ding and Ding on both Willie & HankThe Orr guess is the right sport but wrong answer. Bobby O had bad knees resulting in his last full season coming at the ripe old age of 26 and he was out of the sport entirely at 30, so not close to 20 seasons for him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Gotta be Howe. Not only jumped teams after two decades, but leagues as well.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Its not Bourque. He won the Cup only after leaving Boston.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Alex Delvecchio Red Wings to Canadiens?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 The correct answer is Howe. And if you want to cite a technicality that he didn't really jump to another team in the same league, he wound up lasting so long with Houston & Hartford of the WHA* -- SEVEN seasons following his **Twenty Freakin' Five** with the Red Wings -- that he was with Hartford when they were absorbed into the NHL for his final playing season. So his final total was 25 NHL seasons, then six in the WHA plus one final one in the NHL.And he somehow managed to make it to age 88* We use to call it WHA Hockey?, as in WHA' Happened?!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Howe played professionally under eight different presidents and six prime ministers (seven if you count Pierre Trudeau twice).
