Based on information to be gleaned from this first round of cuts, the current starter depth chart among those in camp looks something like this:

  1. Jacob deGrom, L/R

  2. Marcus Stroman, R/R

  3. Noah Syndergaard, L/R

  4. Rick Porcello, R/R

  5. Steven Matz, R/L

  6. Michael Wacha, R/R

  7. Corey Oswalt, R/R

  8. David Peterson, L/L

  9. Erasmo Ramirez, R/R

  10. Walker Lockett, R/R

  11. Pedro Payano, R/R

  12. Rob Whalen, R/R

  13. Kevin Smith, L/L

Smith currently has the most helium, though. He even looks like a lefthanded Jacob deGrom, the very idea of which makes me have go change my pants.

I think Szapucki (who I adopted on the old format page and I guess I should re-adopt here) will be in the majors later this year or early next year.

I skimmed a DVRed version of yesterday's game (most at double speed with no sound). Ryder Ryan, who now hold major hopes of continuing the Tim Bogar Trade Chain, looked good: 94 mph fb, 83 mph curve, short delivery. Also got my first look at Mauricio. He's like a baby tiger, you can see by his frame he's going to mature into something big and ferocious. Hit an opposite field single.

Gary Apple is terrible at pbp, always saying something we don't need to be told (like "first pitch swinging!" every time) and then falling behind the action from there.

I though Diaz was supposed to pitch? maybe I scanned right thru him.

I like Zeile enough in small doses, agree Apple seems out of his element.

Heard tonight (WFAN?) that Conforto "tweaked his side" catching a fly ball, had an MRI and is headed for "additional tests".

Has anyone heard if that is an old fashioned "Get a massage and hit the hot tub, you'll be fine" kind of tweak, or is it a Jed Lowrie kind of tweak?

Must be a really good book, no one wants to part with one on eBay.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Clint Frazier has... um... not been getting universal Twitter love for his on-field maskiness.

Umps wearing plastic face shields instead of facemasks... which seems to be more of an impediment-- fogging?-- than any muffling from cloth, no?

The hobbled, dark-skinned Amish dude formerly known as Robby Cano beats out a surefire double play with barn-raising hustle.

I don't think I've EVER seen Cano run like that. Even young, base-steal-y Cano.
