The 53rd home run was an all-time feat and deserves enshrinement as the most memorable moment of the past season.

This leads to how we view this contest, much like the "value" in "Valuable": is it the cover as a work of art or the cover as something that commemorates a significant moment in Mets history, good or bad? I tend to look at the cover itself which was why I voted for the HR Derby Alonso over the 53 Alonso. It's also why I voted for "Mane Man" which is simply a great looking cover. Above, "Streakers' works on every level, the colors (the red matching the ad in the background), the joy in the picture, the text matching the picture. "53" is an incredible moment for the Mets and for us, of course, and a wonderful picture but the headline covers too much of his body and the sub-headline above his helmet seems off. That doesn't mean that it shouldn't win. 53! will likely win and maybe it should simply because of that moment.

I could give a 🐀 s ass about a counting stat milestone, especially one completed in the season's garbage time. I'll remember he got 53 but he hit plenty of more memorable ones . And as pointed out the phrase rookie sultan of swat is a mouthful.

STREAKERS is immediate, important, unique, works on multiple levels and happened when it very much mattered.

Statistically, he couldn't hit his 53rd until he hit the other 52.

Kudos to Newsday for really upping their game. Two semifinalists, and either one could have been the winner.

This is like two Atlantic 10 teams meeting in the Final Four.

Sometimes I forget that Alonso hit 53 HR's and holds the record. But there is no point that I forget about that Washington game. Everything about it. I've posted here before that we were coming back from Queens. A buddy of mine lost his father, and we were coming back from his wake.

All seemed lost, but then they started rallying. Our whole family sat in the car outside the parking garage not wanting to mess with the mojo. I think I will remember that game for the rest of my life. I hope my kids do too.

Also, it's the better cover.

Right I'm referring to the above assertion that the 53rd itself was the season's "most memorable moment." It most definitely was not.
