Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Hoping Alonso doesn't go too Hollywood-Harvey this year. That his face won't get him a lot of commercials is a positive I guess.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I'm so worried about him going all Wind Machine-Chris Davis that I'll almost be relieved if he goes Hollywood-Harvey
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Those have https://store.lindyssports.com/collections/all-2019-magazines/products/2019-lindys-baseball-preview?variant=24689121558592a different cover for each market, with a photo of local players, even when there are two teams. Sixteen in all -- some use two teams in the state (Pirates and Phillies) or two teams that are in close proximity (Orioles and Nationals). Looks like only the Braves, Red Sox, Tigers, and Blue Jays have solo teams.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Athlon Sports has 25 MLB covers. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Bob and Pete, together again.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Regional covers for SI seem wrong, but regional covers for preseason magazines seem fine.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 It was a tradition at the MOFo. People would insist that Alex Escobar or somebody must be the top prospect in the game because he was on the cover of their new prospect guide.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 The Baseball America Almanac for 2020 does NOT have Pete Alonso on the cover. The cover is usually reserved for the player from the prior year who had the most outstanding season.I guess leading both leagues in Home Runs and setting all time rookie and team home run records wasn't outstanding enough for them.It has some Los Angeles NL guy who didn't lead his team or league in or to anything except total bases (by 3??? over Pete). And since it was sold in the NY area (Connecticut, actually) I'm guessing it is the only cover they used.I sent them a message on their website asking why they did that and have not yet received a response.Later
