That ARCTIC BLAST font is the polar opposite of arctic, which is to say fire. I want to frame that cover and hang it over my bed, never mind that I'm not 12.



The Post threw everything at its BAD CHAIR DAY treatment. Points for going all in.



‘THEY CAME & GOT US' is classic tab, complete with the skyline logo. Boldly and forthrightly covers a necessary karmic turning point.



Wanted to love those Minnesota moonshot back pages, but Pete's face is obscured, which kind of dampens the vibe.

I've been voting for just one cover per round so far. But I voted for three today. Polar Bear Clubber because in addition to the word-play, what I really liked about this back page is that the picture matches the copy perfectly. Look at Alonso's pose. It looks like he really did just club a polar bear. Bear Necessity because I've been ogling that picture all season long. It's a great shot and I even used that pic on an as yet unreleased Pete Alonso Batman card. And They Came and Got Us is the best headline, word-wise, I thought. And as a real-life BVW quote, it reflects both honesty and humility -- good traits, no? -- that we could sure use during this furshlugginer embarrassment of a presidency.

BAD CHAIR DAY is about as great a tabloid hed as you can come up with, so good that neither the DN or Snoozeday also had it.



F BOMBS probably won't win but that's a creative cover too. The blackboard writing is very funny.



My only issue with ARCTIC BLAST, which I voted for, is that it covers such an inconsequential event for the team. It was a nice thing for the fans and for Pete but it was somewhat artificial: It was literally the only game in town that day, and a made-for-TV event staged for visibility. The photo and the treatment are terrific but you know, its a batter not wearing a helmet with stage lighting

I like the photo but not the Newsday crop and to an extent, Newsday can't help it because of that strip format on the top of the page that's reserved for text. The shot should've included Pete's whole bat, and maybe, more of his body, I thought. That's a tall rectangle shot, not a square box shot. That picture would work better on the DN.
