MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Baseball America has been releasing their rating of the top 20 prospects in each minor league over the past few weeks. Here are the Mets prospects on those lists:IL: NoneEL: 9 Andres Giminez SS, 11 Anthony Kay LP (traded in the Marcus Stroman deal)FSL: NoneSAL: 5 Ronny Muricio SSNYPL: NoneAppy: 2 Brett Baty, 3B, 10. LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 I think the primary problem on this front is borne OF BVW's work-- we've traded away, like, four first-rounders for Cano, Diaz, and Stroman.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Yup. We did this while infielders were available just for money. When tons of relief pitchers were available just for money. And now there are two legitimate aces and a few 1A type aces available on the market. Just for money.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 I don't mind the Stroman deal nearly as much as the Cano/Diaz deal, which was entirely foolish.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Yeah. I think I'm just sour grapes on that one. Coupled with a few bullpen pieces and that could have been great for us.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 The thing that bothers me about Kay for Stroman is that Kay could presumably fight for a rotation slot (he was already starting for TOR) and could become one of the bullpen pieces we say we need. Same with Dunn too
