I'm sure other things happened — I think there was a well-turned DP in there or something — but I woke up thinking that Nimmo's ninth-inning walk was the highlight of the evening.

Also, I was never quite clear on who or what "Teb!" is.

I'm waiting for BVW to explain to us exactly why Stroman is better than Vargas.

Eight years younger, under team control for another year, an ERA a half run lower for his career and a full run lower for this season at the time of the deals.

Do you really think this requires further explanation?

Then let him start pitching like it.

I've called it the George Altman Syndrome for years.

I'm pretty sure the general manager doesn't need to let Stroman pitch better.

And if the trade fails, then it does, but the idea that there wasn't justification a month ago for replacing Vargas with him isn't particularly fair.

Meanswhilst, if we're going to Monday-morning quarterback that change, Stroman has a 5.05 ERA since the trade, while Vargas has a 4.93 figure. That's not a lot of difference to lament. And again, Sandy Koufax can't make a difference if the team don't score and the leftfielder don't catch.

There was plenty of reason to have been against that trade but I don't think replacing Vargas should count as one. I'm kind of disappointed we miss him this series.

And hey! How about those five scoreless innings from the bullpen with only one hit and no walks allowed.

That's what people in Tebow's posse call him?

Fine. But that Stroman's 2019 ERA jumped from 2.96 before the trade (and 3.91 for his career) to 5.05 since the deal is hardly an evaluation mistake by the GM.
