whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Great songToo bad whoever made the video didn't use actual vintage photos of 1960s people instead of people dressed up as such. If you are old enough, and I am, you can tell the difference
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Bad IGT, going to sleep 1-1 after 6...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 I've been unavailable to type.It seems like the Mets are hoping one swing can give them a lead, but a full rally would be nice.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Dug out after the leadoff triple. Time to strike back.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Author Posted July 18, 2019 Two leadoff triples that didn't score. That's Thortastic.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Moronta in the Giants' bullpen looks like the ghost of Ray King.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 A terrible call at first by James Hoy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Bases loaded and two out. I'm not sure McNeil saw a strike that whole at-bat, but nothing doing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Man, if the opposing manager was really lining up the 2019 version of Pablo Sandoval against me at third, I'd be bunting all night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Crawford is, and always has been, a heluva shortsop.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Not the thread that never sleeps.Alonso homers solo in the top of the 16th.Giants score twice in response.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Its almost as if the worst bullpen ever decided "no, we wont lose the game in the 9th, we are going to wait until you score so we can BLOW the game again"
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Intensely questionable managing in the top of the 10th: second and third, nobody out, Callaway pinch-hits for Ramos for Lagares vs Will Smith. No way the lefty won't IBB Ramos, which he does. So you've burned your last RH bat and compound it by pinch-running Guillorme for Ramos, depleting your bench. Eventually, Dom Smith winds up in right.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 I'm not clear about the urgency to recall Rhame under any circumstances but especially knowing that he had to serve a suspension. They appealed it while in Minnesota and got it cut to one game but that was the best that they were going to do. Given how much the bullpen worked against the Twins BVW took a chance that the game where Rhame was suspended wouldn't go 16 and lost that chance (and the game). Rhame isn't any good anyway and there were other relievers on the 40-man who weren't going to be suspended.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 This game was a microcosm of the Mets 2019 season: Alonso, the transcendent rookie, carrying the Mets offense, providing the key run production and then the dreadful bullpen blowing the game.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Eight innings of shutout ball from the bullpen, but Mazza turned back into a pumpkin as soon as there was a lead to protect. Two mop-up innings in Minnesota, one very good inning in San Francisco and then...nothing left.I love that Bumgarner wanted to go out for the tenth. Hate what he does to us, and I'll really hate anything he does for the MFYs should it come to that, but boy does he not care which era he's pitching in.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 As I was getting up at 7.30am ish, I went to look at last nights score - only to see the game was still on and the Mets were winning! turned MLBTV on to see the pitcher strike out and Rosario get on base and get caught stealing. Went into shower. Go out to shave to see it was 2-2 and we had a five man infield. Ugh.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Rosario's pickoff was quietly self-immolating, though I have the feeling whatever size lead was handed forth in the top of the sixteenth was destined to evaporate in that inning's bottom.
