seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Gotta be Riggleman for now, and then they'll try to reboot in the offseason once they've traded away all their usable parts and alienated what's left of the fan base.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Paddy Power should have made the odds on Regan 82:1.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 I picked Riggleman but at those odds, I'd also wager on Teufel.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 I've thought about this and will say Terry is a real possibility. Fred loves him. The writers really like him. He's still in the org. He has some pepper that will prolly play well. He's old and has a cushy retirement role waiting so they can Brodie themselves a real manager when the season ends.I'd also hedge my bets with a few quid on Girardi, moreso as the "permanent" replacement. If it's a situation where we need a few weeks before naming a "perm" in-season then it's gotta be Riggleman.BTW, the nationals or Marlins will hire Callaway as their pitching coach.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Johnny mentions Terry and that's a solid pick as he was a frequent companion with BVW during Spring Training.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 As for alienating the fan base, unless that's an actual mission-specific goal, that feeds into the rankings. Fan attrition, defection, and self-immolation can be prevented and/or ameliorated by the insertion of a familiar, more-trusted face — Wright, Alfonso, even Teufel or even Terry. These faces suggest that, despite the rough sailing, there's still a course fixed in place. A beloved somebody with a Mets pennant or championship in his pocket is actually willing to steward this thing for a few weeks? At risk to their rep and historical standing? Maybe this thing isn't totally hopeless. That implied message might sell six or eight tickets.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 No odds on Brodie appointing himself as manager? He can even do it from home!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 Wally could probably be a candidate for the long-term job, but interim appointments almost invariably go to somebody already on the payroll.
