I like Ernie Borgnine's evil villain getup.

That's funny you said/wrote that because last night I was googling "Blue Blazer" for ideas or inspiration on how to dress this villain. I was also wondering if "Blue Blazer" is some sort of wrestling term. I don't know much about wrestling. I know and have heard of the stuff that everybody probably knows, like a half-nelson and Hulk Hogan and Gorgeous George. My 4th grade buddy was a big Bruno Sammartino fan. And Gorilla Monsoon, too. Back in the 4th grade. Anyways, it turns out that "Blue Blazer" is the name of an actual modern-day wrestler. Did you know that?

I didn't, but ...

I have a friend named Mark who was and is a real subversive. He eventually went to work for WFAN, but that was ironic, because in the early years of the station, he made great hay out of prank-calling them. On one occasion, he put on his best Bronx accent and carried on for about 15 minutes about how everybody says that nobody can beat Tyson, but he's seen this fighter coming up who would mash Tyson to pieces. Every time the host would try to get a name out of Mark, Mark would talk over him, saying this guy was more nimble than Ali but his punches more devastating than Foreman. He had Schmeiling's brutality but Norton's reach. Again, the host would ask for a name and Mark would wax on about his last three opponents leaving the ring in a stretcher.

Finally, the host pinned him down, "You got me interested," he interjected, but who is this guy? Give me a name!"

"A name?" Mark responded, as if it hadn't even occurred to him.

"Yeah, a name. I assume this guy has one."

Mark paused a beat, but didn't crack. "His name is ... Da Blue Blaza."

"The what what?"

"The Blue Blazer! He absolutely destroyed Sergeant Slaughter last week."

"Wait a minute ... YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT A WRESTLER?!?!"

I'm not doing it justice, but we kept a tape of it and it many pairs of pants were ruined when it was played back. Anyhow, since then, I pretty much call all fictional wrestlers "The Blue Blazer."

Oddly enough Owen Hart was known as one of the biggest pranksters and jokers in that WWF locker room.

And now I want to see an in his prime Sarge (early to mid 1980s) square off with a towards the end Owen. Or even Bret. Unless Sarge did time in Stampede (The Hart family's promotion in Calgary) I don't recall much interaction with Sarge and any of the Harts.

That's a funny story. Patch that tape into the forum.

Damn gimmick cost him his life. RIP Owen

Hey youse Mets fans! Need a baseball fix. A fix from the coronavirus blues? A baseball fix to while away the time while the Mets self quarantine? Well Typrewriter Chewing Gum is bringing back the reigning Power/Speed champ of the Batman Baseball cards -- Kathy Kersh -- Miss Rheingold '62 -- B-List Hollywood man-eater of the mid-60s and for a brief while -- Ms. Burt "Robin the Boy Wonder" Ward. Why, youse may wonder? Because Kathy's got some competition for the power speed champ of the Batman Mets cards universe. And youse can get to crown the champ. But that part's coming soon. Same bat-channel.

We've got a special Batman card just for youse. It'll go down as a historical card in our Batman Mets 2019 series. Why, youse ask? Because it's part of the base set; it's not an insert or a subset -- and yet it features no Mets player. Look high and low and all over the place -- use your Bat-o-Scope if youse wanna -- but you won't find anyone on that card who ever played for the New York Mets. How's that possible, youse wanna know, this being a Mets baseball card set as much as it's a Batman card set? It's all about Bill James's Power/Speed Number. Stay with me. The Power/Speed Number -- Bill James's harmonic mean for measuring how well a player does, collectively, at hitting home runs and stealing bases. Collectively being the operative word, because a player has to do well in both categories to score high on the Power/Speed number. Ol' friend Frank Howard could've led the AL in HR's from here to eternity, but with half the speed of Wilson Ramos and never more than one stolen base in any season, ol' Hondo wasn't gonna score much in Power/Speed. Ya gotta excel in both categories to score impressively in Power/Speed.

Now we here at Typewriter Chewing Gum are immersed in Mets history and Batman. And we got to thinking, who's got the best, the most significant connections to both the Mets and the Batman universe, with special focus on the Batman TV show that ran from 1966-1968? With emphasis on the word "both". That means no Zsa Zsa Gabor, who, despite playing the super-villainess Minerva on what turned out to be the series' final episode, couldn't care less about baseball and had no meaningful, or any real connection to the New York Mets, as far as we know. See where we're going? We're looking for someone who'd score high on the Power/Speed number for our Batman Mets cards. And we think we've found the Batman/Mets Power/Speed champ. And we've got a card featuring the Batman/Mets Power/Speed champ. Tune in tomorrow. Same Bat-Thread.

Today's brand new card release features the Power/Speed champ of the Batman/Mets universe. But wouldn't you know it, as this card was in development, we here at Typewriter thought of yet another candidate who might vie for the Power/Speed championship of the Batman/Mets universe. This means that there'll be a future card coming, along the lines of today's release -- which won't settle the question of who's the Power/Speed champ of the Batman/Mets universe but at least youse'll have some more eye candy to eyeball while the Mets fade and Pete Alonso hasn't hit a homer in what's goddamn ages for him -- about three games. And while it's true, just like we said, that you won't find anyone who ever played for the Mets on this card, we didn't say anything about Mets royalty.

The phone lines are now open. The Bat-Phone lines, that is. So does Julie Newmar de-throne Kathy Kersh as the new Power/Speed champ of the Batman Mets cards universe? Tell us here at Typewriter Chewing Gum who and why and you may win a fabulous prize. Act now, while supplies last.
