We here at Typewriter Chewing Gum, makers of the greatest Batman Mets cards on this planet also read The Athletic. And we've been digging that Joe Posnanski piece on ol' Tom Terrific, references to which, are circulating on this forum as we write this post. This got us in the mood to honor the greatest Mets ever so without further ado, it's another Latin-American market only all-star card from our quite substantial stash of unreleased Batman cards. Our all-star cards link up with our Batman69 line for this Tom Seaver in a mashup of subsets. Did we ever tell youse how much we like subsets? Because we do. And coming soon, a look at the most overlooked Mets 1969 all-star in another mashup of our all-star cards and our Batman69 cards.

Well how could this be, you wonder? Tommy's long retired, so he wouldn't be on a 2019 base card. He was on the Seattle Pilots in 1969, and was not a member of the Amazin' Miracle Mets. That rules out a Batman69 card. So how would Tommy Davis be featured on a 2019 Batman Mets card?



You'll have to stay tuned in here. It's all part of our exciting new subset.

Hey! You're giving us too much credit for trying real hard to be trendy or something. We're not eschewing anything here at Typewriter Chewing Gum, a subsidiary of Plasticine Industries -- where anything goes! Nope. We're not eschewing anything at all! We're just looking for Mets at the top of the leader boards is all it is because the only leader cards we're producing for this Batman set are leader cards with Mets on them. Like the leader card below featuring the plain' old vanilla Home Run category. And have another checklist while you're here.

It's a good thing you're into blown up Batman cards for your walls, although from your past posts that I've read over the years, it's even money if your wife lets you even store a blown up card in the broom closet. But still, it's a good thing you're into blown up cards because in our coming-soon McDonald's-Monopoly Batman game, we'll be giving away blown up versions of our Batman cards to some lucky winners. You sound like you're into the rogue's gallery of Batman villains. Which is a good thing, we here at Typewriter Chewing Gum believe. Because without Gotham City's super-villains, there'd be nothing for Batman to do, and therefore, no mid-60s TV show phenomenon, and no Batman Mets cards some 50 years later.



Some actual proposed villains that missed the TV cut were The Scribbler, (a failed pop artist), Dr. Somnambulus and Lady Macbeth. Upon learning that ABC was planning to produce a Batman TV show, Frank Sinatra did everything in his power to land the role of The Joker, which he desperately coveted. It was already too late, as Cesar Romero was one of the first actors signed up for the show and the network was extremely pleased with its casting catch. There are no reports of decapitated horse's heads ending up in the beds of any ABC execs. Spencer Tracy was first offered the role of The Penguin, but apparently, ol' Spence didn't quite understand how the show worked. Spencer insisted on being able to kill off Batman as a condition to taking the role.

And today, we mash-up our subsets once again, for a Batman69 look at some league leaders with a Mets flavor. And a twist of Batman, too. Look closely and you'll see that we squeezed in four league leaders on the card below - instead of the usual three, thanks to a third place tie. Lucky youse. That's one more league leading major leaguer for the same price.

In fairness, apart from the beaded eyes and cartoonishly blurred quadro-brows, the effect was augmented by King Tut's hypno-spiral background. I guess that might suggest that having one of the pitchers zombied-out is almost appropriate.
