Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 https://nypost.com/2019/05/31/mets-analyst-nelson-figueroa-fired-from-sny/Nelson Figueroa fired from his SNY desk job, sez the Post."Figueroa was let go Friday morning after he showed up Thursday in what was described by sources as a state not fit to work. Figueroa allegedly demanded to still appear on SNY's evening program, 'Baseball Night in New York,' but was not permitted to appear."That's a shame. Enjoyed his in studio work. Hopefully he gets some help.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I've grown to like him as well, always well spoken and ultra-prepared.Kinda surprised, but I guess ya never know.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I thought Figgy was pretty good too.We now need a random former Met to take over.Go to Ultimatemets.comUltimatemets.com and see what random Met you get!I got... Tim Leary
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Leary might be good. I got Bob Miller, who would stink — literally, as he's been dead 26 years.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Leary would be good in that SNY strains to pun-brand every other segment a la DUQ IT OUT. "I'M LEARY OF THIS" definitely fits their standards. Perhaps "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello,_LarryHELLO, LEARY," depending on how old they're targeting their demos.I got Derek Wallace. Hmm...http://www.derrickdollsalumni.org/DEREK'S DOLL (star of the game)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_Against_the_Wall_MotherfuckerUP AGAINST THE WALLACE, METSIE FUDGERS (taking players to task)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand_in_the_Schoolhouse_DoorIN THE SHEA HOUSE DOOR (Derek makes a defiant last stand against unrelenting progress)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 "We'll be back with a summary, and as always we'll have a look at the game stats on DEREK'S NUMERICSTM."
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 "The loss was tough, Derek, but is there something Mets fans can TAKE WALLACE IN?"
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 "With the Mets giving away another game, Derek, is it CHRISTMASTIME IN WALLACE, QUEENS?"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 They'll let things settle for a while, but my money is on the next ex-Met hire is Cliff Floyd.

Tim LearyThat looks like an interesting site!I got Brian Rose. I think he's too obvious a choice.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I think he's with the MLB network, so if he got more steady work with one organization, I think he'd be willing to jump. Curt Gowdy, Jr. don't play.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 According to his wiki-page he's also a feature analyst for the Blue Jays. I knewI saw him on one of Extra Innings games recently just couldn't recall the team.Like him, he's good on his MLB Channel stuff. Back to Figgy, I think I've seen him on MLB too. Wonder if that gig dries up as well.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Raissman wrote Figueroa was a ticking timebomb, thanks to SNY repeatedly ignoring him, or something like that.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I was kinda wondering why we were seeing less and less of him on SNY. That he seemed to get even less airtime than usual after Darling's illness was announced probably indicates that this was a long time coming, for whatever reason.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 That's pretty much what Raissman's thesis is. That he had a sword dangling over him and he eventually went nuts. Understandably to Raissman's apparent thinking. But I've had a sword hanging over me most of my life and I have all my breakdowns in private, thank you very much.Still, Raissman, whose specialty seems to be getting inside info on dramatic employment situations, seems to only have a single source and half of the story he's hoping for, filling in the rest with speculation.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I like where Raissman quotes himself.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I know he's trying to stir up shit, and maybe there's shit here that needs to be stirred, but his summation of Todd Zeile's performance seems to be baseless, and crafted to fit his thesis.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Raissman is the sports TV critic, that's his whole gig. He's like Mushnik but less fiery
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Does Raissman still have a gig on SNY? He did for a long time. I guess either way he would have a decent source at the network.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 With the Snooze having decimated its sports department, SNY stopped airing "Daily News Live," and no longer offer its remaining staffers/freelancers a ready camera, though a handful of ex-Snoozers have found a home as SNY analysts.Which is to say Raissman is no longer on SNY.
