Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Getaway day, 3:40 PM start, which means I should be able to actually watch/listen to some of this one.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 NYM (17‑19) Wilmer Font (RHP, 1-0, 5.79)SDP (20‑17) Matt Strahm (LHP, 1-2, 3.03)
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 My guess: Nido/Alonso/McNeil (L)/Rosario/JD/Broxton/Lagares/Conforto (L). Hech for McNeil at 2B is possible. No meaningful history with Strahm: http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/34862/matt-strahmhttp://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/34862/matt-strahmWill the very sensitive Padres throw inside to Alonso because their feelings were after his bat flip (for which he was reprimanded by the HP ump)?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Hechiavarria should play short. McNeil is hitting .391 against lefties so far this year. I'm looking for reasons to play him, not sit him.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I'd play McNeil 8 days a week but I was trying to think like Mickey.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Hechiavarria has a weird release. Looks like he's chucking darts when he makes a throw across the diamond.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 How's that for a 1st inning? McNeil with a hustle double and Rosario drives him in. Font with a 1-2-3 1st inning. Nimmo with a fantastic catch.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 add in a home run from Tomas "Better than Mesoraco" Nido.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 The original Wilmer Font.http://i67.tinypic.com/160cylu.jpghttp://i67.tinypic.com/160cylu.jpg
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 The Padres bench coach is Rod "Throb" Barajas, whose presence in the home dugout also serves as a reminder to Met fans that no, Wilson Ramos is not the slowest first-string catcher in Mets history.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I just saw this photo and for a few seconds, I thought to myself, WOW!, this guy's been around for a very long time. He played with Wade Boggs. I'm really losing track of things.https://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/2c095663eeeb571308e4df9cb4c96720956784f1/c=0-326-3897-2518/local/-/media/2018/06/24/USATODAY/usatsports/ec41807fbe8b439aad3c79485bddc943.jpg?width=3200&height=1680&fit=crop>
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Gamecast informs me the Pads have tied it on a fly ball to SS. I hope this was a difficult to get to dunker
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 RosERRio should have had that one but Gary makes excuses and blames McNeil.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 It wasn't easy, but it was as much miscommunication as it was lucky placement.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Conforto needs to stop sub-900-OPSing NOW!!!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Always looking to learn from the opposing manager, Mickey pulls Font after four innings and 60 pitches. But you get the all-important DP from the pinch-hitter, so it's all good.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 As Tomás Nido turns a strikeout into a double-play with a pickoff, I think it's fair to say this has been his game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Well that was an interesting turn at bat- w/runner on 1st, pitcher Strahm bunts right near the plate- Nido picks up the ball and throws to 2nd- throw is short, Rosario fields the hop but comes off the base while doing so- relay to 1st is late, everyone safe- but the Mets claim that Strahm kicked the ball after bunting- umps agree but say it was in foul territory and so was merely a strike, everyone back to where they were- Strahm bunts through Strike three and Nido throws behind runner (Margot) and picks him off to end the inning with an odd Strike-out/Throw-out DP
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Strahm deserved that by squaring 15 seconds before each pitch, and then trying to stay loose by doing squats in the batter's box.Hey, it's nice to see Bobby Nystrom in the house this afternoon.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 (edited) A tricky and evasive slide, combined with a decidedly minimum effort tag by Machado, gives Conforto a one-out stolen base w/Nimmo at bat.... and Nimmo doubles off the wall/glove in CF on the 12th pitch of the AB, but Conforto, holding up to possibly tag, can only get to 3rdThat'll end [CROSSOUT]Brent Strom's[/CROSSOUT] Matt Strahm's day Edited May 8, 2019 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Great trip to the plate by Nimmo knocking out the pitcher.Stupid Margot, when he drops those, needs to drop 'em on the other side of the wall.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Geez, was that Josh Hader? That was a great opportunity wasted.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Annnnd ... Six straight pitches later, the inning is over.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 And the Papis go ahead on a homer, because when you go to the pen early, you end up using back-end relievers with the game on the line.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Burly Bashlor is like relief Fake News. Supposed to be good ; instead is a stiff sinewy meatball factory dumbass
