September 29, 2007, was more fight-adjacent than basebrawl. The John Franco Day melee of 1996 was the last really good one, though there was some chippiness during a Steve Avery-Bobby Jones showdown the same year.



I can picture Gabe Kapler trying to make hay. Umps should feel free to warn Jason Vargas out of the game early.

The problem with the 2007 fight is that the playing-out-the-string Marlins had their bags packed to go home. After Blastings Thrilledge apparently provoked them with what they saw as an over-demonstrative homerun celebration, the Marlins suddenly had a burning motivation to eliminate the Mets before calling it a season.



The Marlins came out and scored seven in the first the next day.

Sitting around not fighting with family and friends on Easter my buddy says,

I said not sure and we went though a couple of long-haired guys and I got to

Vargas and he's like yeah that dude looks like Superfly Snuka's son!



I don't see it, but I'm gonna laugh about it for awhile.

That is so crazy that's it's been since 1996 that a Met Brawl happened. That makes a Mets brawl a topic we've never encountered in an IGT on the CPF.

I'm guessing that Alonso's blow is all about keeping him from absorbing any planned retaliation. He's about as close to Hoskins' opposite number as they come.

It's a shame we had some scrub pitching and not a future hall of famer.

Would you rather have Lugo, pitching well but a righty, face Harper, or Zamora, who hasn't pitched in the majors this season but a lefty, face Harper? I'd stick with Lugo. But what do I know?
