G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Vargas Versus Velasquez. Let Us Sveep!!!
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Between the Bryce jawing, the hand-plunking, and Rhame getting all Maglie on their asses last night, do we think this one is getting fighty?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Let's hope so. The Mets haven't been involved in a real brawl in something like 25 years, am I right?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Well maybe that stuff with the Marlins? Vague memories
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 September 29, 2007, was more fight-adjacent than basebrawl. The John Franco Day melee of 1996 was the last really good one, though there was some chippiness during a Steve Avery-Bobby Jones showdown the same year.I can picture Gabe Kapler trying to make hay. Umps should feel free to warn Jason Vargas out of the game early.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 The problem with the 2007 fight is that the playing-out-the-string Marlins had their bags packed to go home. After Blastings Thrilledge apparently provoked them with what they saw as an over-demonstrative homerun celebration, the Marlins suddenly had a burning motivation to eliminate the Mets before calling it a season. The Marlins came out and scored seven in the first the next day.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 Milledge wasn't directly involved. He exulted and the dogass Marlins https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-2007-09-30-0709290197-story.htmltook offense. Lastings's reaction is the sort of thing MLB would make commercials for these days.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Sitting around not fighting with family and friends on Easter my buddy says,"Who's that crazy looking dude with the long hair? He looks like a whack job!"I said not sure and we went though a couple of long-haired guys and I got to Vargas and he's like yeah that dude looks like Superfly Snuka's son!I don't see it, but I'm gonna laugh about it for awhile.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 So no Zimmo. We saw the coaches trying to get him out of the game at first base last night then not coming back out. What's his ailment?Oh, and Smitty in for Alonso. Maybe he could use a blow. That is so crazy that's it's been since 1996 that a Met Brawl happened. That makes a Mets brawl a topic we've never encountered in an IGT on the CPF.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Author Posted April 24, 2019 Left oblique twinge for Brandon.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Nimmo = Oblique "tightness"Better to get him out of there before he 'Stantons' himself and is out for a while.Would also be nice to start the 1st inning without a backwards K for a change.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I'm guessing that Alonso's blow is all about keeping him from absorbing any planned retaliation. He's about as close to Hoskins' opposite number as they come.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 (edited) The MFPs are a bunch of whining babies. Do they actually believe that Jacob Rahme has pinpoint control? F them. Edited April 24, 2019 by Guest
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Challenge it Mickey, wtf
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Why would you not challenge that?

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I wouldn't be surprised if Vargas hit a bunch of guys tonight.Sure, some of the pitches would bounce first. And Ramos would be setting up outside on the others.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Conforto just covered his mouth to say something to Hoskins.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Ramos is screwing us over tonight
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 As 4.2 inning outings go, Vargas wasn't bad tonight

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Canó looking about 60 years old on that error.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Would you rather have Lugo, pitching well but a righty, face Harper, or Zamora, who hasn't pitched in the majors this season but a lefty, face Harper? I'd stick with Lugo. But what do I know?
